Seeing one of my favorite franchises get a reboot is always a happy feeling for me, a feeling that there's hope in what was once gold to renew and bring to a new generation. That's what Nightdive did with this game while at the same time keeping it nostalgic to the OG playerbase. Unfortunately there's a lot of decisions in it that I dislike as much as there's many ones that I did enjoy.

First off, the game ran smooth for me, had absolutely no problem with performance so a game coming out in 2023 that actually runs and functions is amazing. (sad as it sounds, there's that trend of unfinished products nowadays)

Like I said even in the time of the demo, the graphics are.. Cool? I like the art direction they took with it, even though there's a lot of moments in the game where some objects/environments just look too pixelated for their own good, I kinda get wanting to give it that old school vibe, but there's legit times in the game where I wondered, how amazing this could've looked with sharper textures.

I like how they kept the gameplay relatively simple, not every FPS game has to be a bag of infinite options and as complex as a Planescape in the scheme of things, this makes it that the player actually feels like a dorky hacker, you're not supposed to be a supersoldier doing a purge in a spaceship, you're trying to survive.
Adding a little bit of charm here and there with a few immersive sim options, like the recyclers, the food machines etc.
Love the designs in some of the weapons and enemies, the exploration and no hands held experience really felt refreshing and super fun at some points.

Now my major gripe comes with one of my favorite things about the original, this also may be due to nostalgia, but it's still present, neverthless. I see a lot of people in the reviews asking why are people still so nostalgic of it, and most of those players won't know because they didn't play it in 90's.

The Sound design.
System Shock was a mess of Techno/DNB with robotic shenanigans that made it feel like you were in literal technospace, and it was a MAJOR part of why the game felt so raw and set paced for most of it's part.
I'm not saying I dislike the current OST, I understand the direction they took with it. There's a lot of nice ambience tracks and a few more punchy ones, but there was legit moments in the game where I kinda was disappointed cause the soundtrack just wouldn't fry the electronics in my brain like the OG did, and that was what set it apart from a lot of games in the genre at it's time. This made it that the soundtrack felt PART of the gameplay, because it too felt like Shodan was messing around with it, just like every part of the ship you were in. I feel this was a missed oportunity for Nightdive to make it more similar/inspired in it, it probably would've been more fresh nowadays because that kind of soundtrack is dying in this genre of game, and it's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ shame.

The ending is also a tad bit disappointing honestly, it feels sorta rushed, one can argue that the original also had a short and inconclusive ending, but that omission of the last quote "old habits die hard" really left me sad. I like the nod to Hardware with the last track, but that song feels so out of place there, like one of the devs legit just took it from their spotify and placed it there cause he had absolutely no idea what to use.

All in all, it's a very decent remake of an amazing game, I think it's amazing that someone actually picked a series that have been asleep for far too long and gave it life again. System Shock is one of the most influential and awesome franchises out there, and Nightdive delivered justice to that name. However, I can't help but feel the original game still feels more modern in comparison to this one. Maybe because when it came out it was miles ahead of it's time.

I still get called cheater everytime I own someone, and players are still using the same excuse 20 years later, but it's my favorite FPS game ever. Too bad Epic doesn't even care about the game that gave name and spirit to their engine. Unreal.

The original Resident Evil 4 is still regarded nowadays as one of the best games of it's kind and a game changer in terms of what the genre came to be after it's release.

This remaster is polished, lengthy, immersive and fun, this is a game that doesn't insult it's source material, and instead improves on the formula in pratically everything. It's a culmination of everything good about Resident Evil in one awesome and engrossing package, this is a game you know had love from the developers.

Other developers should take notes on how to release a game in 2023 with actual polish and with the community in mind. Thank you Capcom for this gem!

Kenshi is probably the most special game I've ever played and the closest I've ever played to a Real Immersive Role-Playing Game. The highest recommendation I can give for this game is knowing that in a way or another, after it, you'll never look at or hear any audiovisual medium in the same way. Granted, it's not gonna go the same way for everyone, but for those that will, they know what I'm talking about.

11 years later and it hasn't aged 1 single day.
Still the best game of it's kind that I played. A hallmark in writing, story, action and sound design.

A massively underrated game and probably my favorite of the series.

It's like going to a comfy theme park, except you have dementia, the park is in chernobyl, everyone is either a wino/rapist/oddball and the rides literally steal your life.

I love it.

This game is one of those gems that transport you back to a time when games were actually magical and gave you a sense of mystery as well as recompense for exploring each of it's corners. Taking inspirations in games like Shadow Tower or King's Field, this is a masterfully crafted gem that isn't afraid to break the 4th wall and inspire you to uncover it's mysteries.

There's a few hiccups here and there with the consistency of the material, in which there are some elements (looking at you Jellysha) that feel a bit out of place, but I did enjoy some of those elements as well like the little nods to real life.
A big shoutout to the artwork and the soundtrack on this game, genuinely stellar.

As a game, there's a lot to be enjoyed and a lot left to desire here, in one hand the simplicity of it's gameplay and mechanics craft a consistent experience and a good one inside of the genre in terms of responsiveness, control and character builds. But on the other hand that same freedom can easily transform you into a cartoon character capable of one-shotting every enemy or jumping out of bounds, so it's unbalanced and generally a bit on the easier side.

Neverthless, it deserves more attention and recognition for it's merits, and it's easily one of the best dungeon crawlers I've ever played.

Signalis is a love letter to any fan of survival horror, lovecraft and cyberpunk out there, and it's definitely one of the best games in it's genre in recent memory.
I could go on and talk forever of how well crafted and realized the story of this game is and how much attention to detail it has, but I would rather not spoil that to anyone. It has stuff that ranges from pop culture references and gritty lovecraftian horror environments, to gorgeous art that reminds me of manga series like BLAME! or Knights of Sidonia.

It nails all of the good things you remember from old survival horror games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, and improves upon the mechanics with neat features and unique gimmicks.

Highly recommended if you like any of the above.
Not recommended if you're a feet fetishist.
