As the name suggests in the Euro Truck Simulator 2 you are the driver of a truck, touring the streets and highways of Europe, and later in the game the manager of a forwarding company.

You start your career without your own truck, driving for different companys. A different truck and a loaded trailer are provided each new trip, fuel costs are taken care of by the company, fines for speeding, damaging the cargo etc. are to be paid by the player however.
As you progress through the game you earn experience and money which you can spent for perks (lowering the fuel consumption, or increasing the payment etc.) and your first own truck, respectively. To help getting enough money the bank is offering loans.

Progressing through the game opens possibilities to hire truckers who will drive for your company, to buy and upgrade garages in cities across Europe and to upgrade your and your drivers trucks with better engines, lightning systems, gearboxes etc. which are partly cosmetic, partly useful in increasing the power of your truck.

Pro:

- The game offers an incredible variety in frights, vegetation and evironmental impressions, which makes exploring Europe exciting and fascinating.
- The high modabiltiy makes the game even more pleasant by adding new maps, tuning possibilities, trucks and way more.
- Great balance between simulation and intuitive gameplay. It's not too hard to figure out how to play, it can get tricky in some situations however.
- The AI has been improved heavily with the new 1.9 patch.

Con:

- The scaling of map/truck is very unproportional, this makes it sometimes difficult to speed up on the accelaration lane. The proportion in general is however well-chosen, since it creates a good illusion of Europe's highways and cities at the same time.
- Physics are messed up in some parts. Climbing a (visually) ~2% slope can slow the truck heavily whilst climbing a (visually) way steeper road will not slow you at all.
