People are giving this game a negative review of this game strictly because of the UI, however they don't focus on what this game does right. They've made diplomacy against AI actually interesting and good. Combat feels like a breath of fresh air, and commanders being given the promotions make combat much more tactical. Town growth makes managing your settlement much better. Having the game split into three eras makes each age feel distinctly unique. During antiquity age, you're trying your best to build up your empire while managing diplomacy and explore. Exploration age makes you feel like you are Portugal funding Christopher Columbus to go find new lands. Modern Age is the culmination of each age, with all the rivalries being put to a head with more advanced weapons. Obviously the UI isn't great. By spending 120 dollars I obviously like Civilization as a franchise, but I expected it to be in not a phenomenal state. I spent that money and I'm not upset that I spent that money. If you're going to buy it, and you know you want a new civ, totally get it. If this is your introduction to civ, wait a month or two for the first few patches to come out. If you're one of the people who like to compare every civ game to civ 5, go play civ 5.
