This game is a journey in suffering and self-discovery. I've often found myself struggling to explain the premise of the game to people, especially in regards to the killer. Why would you want to play a killer? One whose purpose is to force people to suffer and ultimately die?

The irony and simplicity of how you can do this was not lost on the developers, and in fact works quite well. Simply put, you become a killer because you tire of playing survivor. The game is largely based on teamwork, and as such, your teammates will inevitably let you down. Slowly, but surely, your patience will wear thin, until, at least, you become the thing you dread...and swap to killer.

And it will feel good.

Buy this now.

Let me start off by saying this is the first game of the series I've ever played. And I love that it's what it says on the box. It's a game where you hunt monsters, and make weapons and armor from their remains. It is truly a great game, worthy of wasting many hours on.

Unfortunately, the one place is falls short is the biggest reason I got it: The multiplayer aspect. The only place in which you experience multiplayer is the missions themselves, and a single area within non-mission maps which really allows for less socialization than I expected from the previews. This "Gathering Hub" is merely a place to spam pre-constructed emotes or custom shoutouts, and show off your armor and weapons (which can totally be modded so you just LOOK like you have decent gear, when in reality you don't).

There is no way to guarantee that the people that join you for missions are either skilled or not trolls, so you are at their mercy, and many times the missions have a death limit that forces you to fail if members die too many times. If you have sensitive missions, you might as well play solo.

Atop this, due to the horrible and unfixed server connection issues, you can often get knocked offline so you are forced to play solo, and a good deal of the game content is either impossible or extremely un-fun while solo-but if you cannot stay connected to the game's servers, you don't have a choice. There are no fixes for this either.

TL;DR: If you want this game for the social aspect, don't bother. If you're fine playing solo and don't need anyone else around, have at it.

Why didn't you buy this game already.

Are you bad at first person shooters?

If so, buy this game. This is the one game where being good won't save your skin. Being a tactical genius and getting lucky will. The bugs and mistakes will leave you gasping for breath at how funny they are, the kills are rewarding, and the multiplayer element is excellent.

Every experience from your first punch kill to running through Vietnam Flashbacks-I mean, Red Zones-to looting a drop crate is a pulse-pounding experience.

Queues are lightning-fast, fashion is built in via trading or in-match pickups, weapons are RNG based and fair. If you don't have this game you are making a mistake with your life.

Far too much grinding, typical Oriental MMO. If you're okay with the grind, you'll love it. If not....don't even bother. You need to do two story lines to even stay on level, you can easily wander into content far above your level where you can do nothing but die, and the 50+ classes the game touts are relatively unreachable due to the grind factor. Really cutesy style though, and lots of boob. Very much boob.

Early Access Review
You know, I've had this game and been playing it for over a year. I have to remind myself so often it's still in Alpha. BECAUSE IT FEELS LIKE A FULL GAME.

GET IT.

You will sink hours into this game, and not even come close to any ending. Mostly becaue THERE ISN'T ONE. It just keeps going...and going. Seven current races, each with different armors and weapons, an awesome and continually updating mission line, building and decorating with more options than you can shake a matter manipulator at. Randomly generated planets that just keep spawning...there's really not enough room to list all the awesome features-and you really shouldn't be reading anyway. You should be buying. Do it. Now.

Ten years later, still feels just as good hammering the crap out of those blocky enemies as misproportionate, badly-rendered heroes and villains of the galaxy far far away. Get it get it son.
