After putting thousands of hours into this game, I can safely say it's by far one of the best FPS experiences you'll have, even today despite all of the Valve jank present within it. The gameplay is addicting and satisfying, the gunplay is solid, and the mechanics are more complicated than what most give it credit for. However, modern TF2 suffers from a steep learning curve, which can make it hard for new players to get into and understand compared to other shooters such as Overwatch for example. That being said, if you have a friend who's a veteran at the game and is patient enough to teach you the ropes, then go ask that friend to play a few rounds with. You won't regret it.
