Exceeded expectations by a mile. Really impressive game with great characters, music, and combat systems. Definitely a blast to play with a friend!

I played BG3 before DOS2. BG3 has better production values and visuals, but DOS2 has better combat and audio. The two games are comparable despite the years apart. If you enjoyed one of Larian's other games, you'll probably enjoy DOS2.

I hope DOS3 gets made!

Palworld mixes elements of the survival, open world adventure, and monster taming genres in a compelling and entertaining way. The result is an innovative -- and at times derivative -- game that provides a breath of fresh air in an industry dominated by formulas, group think, and monetization-first game design. Palworld continues the trend of surprise hits from smaller developers.

What needs improvement: The visual style of the monsters and characters clashes with the world environment and foliage appearance. The game is too much of a sandbox that could benefit from a story, threat to the world, NPCs, or other content to motivate the player beyond a checklist of to-do items. Everything needs polish and quality of life improvements as the current implementation feels too much like a collection of implemented game engine tutorials. Fights can be excessively chaotic and unpredictable.

What the game does well: Monster designs, variety, animations, sounds, and skills are well done and distinct. Some of the monsters appear designed to provide fan service and appeal to different audiences. The game features mature abilities and gameplay. Palworld has been very stable for me -- no crashes or bugs. World configuration allows a great deal of customization including toning down the tedious parts of survival gaming and reducing the influence of RNG during captures.

Overall, I'm enjoying Palworld so far! It's not perfect. My advice for the developers is to take a break from social media for 6 months, polish polish polish, embrace mods and user content where possible, and take some inspiration from the player experience in Xenoblade Chronicles X in terms of driving the player through story and gradually opening up the world to the player as they strengthen.

This game elevates the park simulator genre. Everything from the RCT games is here and more. The addition of logistics, ugly things guests shouldn't see, and a backstage area add to the challenge of building an enticing park. All the themes you'd expect are here and there's a great roster of rides. The game doesn't restrict you to what has been built as of the time of the game's launch -- it allows you to go beyond. The multiplayer building ability is a great extra too!

I think Parkitect is the better roller coaster game. Planet Coaster is the better sandbox. I very much enjoyed the scenarios and building process in Parkitect compared to other games in this genre. Good game!

I have had absurd amounts of fun framing my friends and BS'ing my way out of self reports when playing as imposter. 10/10 would recommend! Don't take it seriously -- what happens in the game stays in the game.

I originally ignored DRG in favor of playing the Vermintide games. By the time I gave up on them, my friends had played so much DRG that I thought I would never be able to keep pace with them in missions. I was wrong. I also backed the wrong horse -- DRG is an infinitely more fun and varied game than the Vermintide games turned out. I haven't sunk this much time into an FPS since playing TF2 or UT2004.

One of the best things about DRG is the acceptance of mods. I played a ton of the game without mods and then started to tire of it. Kobold voice pack and Tweek the goblin intern completely reinvigorated the game for me and friends months ago. The whole dynamic of the game changes from grumpy dwarves working for a professional leader to chaotic insane lizards working for middle manglement. Best of all, this game is easy to pick up and go with friends regardless of how long they've been playing. It doesn't have the balance-busting must-haves of other games that have levels, ranks, or progression.

Great game! I hope they make another one day.

This is my GOTY for 2023. I expected to play a smart blend of RPG and strategy game when I began playing. I didn't expect the characters, actors, story, writing, and game systems to shine the way they did! This is an outstanding game with a campaign that can easily keep you and friends engaged for 100 hours. Note that I said engaged -- I never felt like I was grinding or doing busywork while playing.

I don't normally play CRPGs. I usually prefer action RPGs. This game changed my mind about the genre and has me wanting to check out DOS2 next. BG3 deserves every single award it's winning -- it's that good. Definitely play it!

Content creators have been removing their contributions. Avatars and worlds are becoming increasingly unavailable. Many friends who used to frequent VRChat have now abandoned it for competitors like ChilloutVR and NeosVR. I created over a dozen avatars for VRChat players and am also now looking to move to ChilloutVR.

The VRChat developers implemented Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) -- performance-draining, kernel level, spyware appropriate for competitive games but not for social cooperative games. They've also blocked all mods in the name of security and user experience. Unfortunately, they still haven't added protections to the avatar and world cache or reigned in shaders frequently used to crash clients. The security update hurts the user community, content creators, and enhancement developers (also known as modders) without addressing the game's actual problems.

I spent a lot of great time in VRChat with friends. So many great experiences and meetups! Great social option during the pandemic and lockdowns! Several superb interaction and avatar feature mods too. Sadly, the developers are going in the wrong direction and are focused on creating a walled garden for VRChat. This means they'll be sanitizing and monetizing the game soon.

TL;DR VRChat chased off their content creators and is going to push monetization. Look for alternatives.

AFE has the gameplay of WWZ, weapon customization and cover system of The Division, and designs straight out of the Alien movies. It is a competent, back-to-basics, multiplayer shooter that satisfies the minimum requirements for a cooperative horde shooter. The shadow of Gearbox's Aliens Colonial Marines disaster looms over AFE even though the two games have nothing in common. This game plays like a solid 7/10 a week after launch, and I only encountered technical problems once while playing.

Pros:
+ Authentic design shows the best parts of the Aliens franchise
+ Visuals are beautiful and pair perfectly with movie sets and environments
+ Audio sounds like it was taken straight out of the movies
+ Easy to join and play with Steam friends
+ Campaigns have an overarching story and unique environments and final challenges

Cons:
- No custom map or campaign support compromises the game's longevity
- Most levels are highly repetitive walk, hold position, walk, hold position, walk, hold position, end
- Lacks tension and suspense because the enemies are mostly fodder, and specials are mixed into hordes
- Too much stuff to unlock given the limited replayability
- Technician and recon classes don't feel as useful as the others
