Total War: Shogun 2 is a fun game atleast for me. The game is an comination of tunr-based and rts. the time periode you play in depends if you bought an expansion you can choose between the genpei wars- sengoku jidai- and the (dont know the real name) imperial/shogun civil war.

Each time frame has its own unique units. from early samurai to the well know samurai and generals with their daimyo and to the fall of the samurai and the full use of guns. the vanilla of the game is great and you can put many hours in it and have diffrent play styles for each clan with all of their own bonuses.

And if you want to get more out of your game in balancing the game or just add more stuff to it you can also download many other mods. but watch out with the mods it can cause crashes and maybe will demand more from your pc.
