If you have $15 burning a hole in your pocket, this isn't the worst way to spend it. The game is a lot of fun and if you like tower defense games and first person shooters, this is a near perfect blend betwen the two. Offering several ways to win each round, you can play each map more than one time. .... however this is where the game has it's downfall. For $15 you only get FOUR maps, which is the entirety of the game. I think I had finished this game in five hours, and played through it twice in less than nine hours. At that point I was bored with it and wished it had been much longer.

Ultimately I give this game 2 stars out of five. Everything the game does, it does pretty well, but you'll chew through that content very quickly and be left hungry for more.... but not in a good way. Ultimately the game feels half finished and I ended the game almost feeling like I had paid $15 for a demo. This game could easily be 3 or 4 times as long with the addition of more maps.

True, Dungeon Defenders is also a very good FPS/TD hybrid. However I found it somehow lacking. I can't tell you why exactly, but DD couldn't hold my interest for that long. Maybe it was the cutesy graphics, maybe it was the lack of complexity in the towers, maybe it was in the massive amount of 'trash' loot you had to collect in the hopes that you'd get a single upgrade... but I never dug DD enough to play it for 400hrs.

I just went and checked and actually I played DD for a total of 110 hours. So I must have enjoyed it more then I remember. Maybe it was all the paid DLC that ended up turning me off?

I played the Demo of Orcs must die, but I have almost 400 hours logged into Dungeon Defenders.

Since I bought this game for $15 originally, my review still stands. I haven't played this game in ages so im not sure if they added any free content or not. But they did drop the price to $10 and add a map pack for $5. So for the original price that I paid, you could get it now, but with 8 maps instead of 4. Does that make it better? Yes. Unfortunately other games have come out since. For FPS / TD hybrids, I'd reccomend Orcs Must Die over this one. The second version just came out with multiplayer play, and the graphics and play is much better and tighter then Sanctum. My revised review is still only 2 / 5 stars for this game. Shame, really could have been so much better.

It's definitely an interesting game, definitely worth checking out the demo... just don't think i could buy this when it just seems like a unique perspective on a TD game.
