So I bought this game when it came out of Early access, and played it and was solidly 'meh' on it. Set it aside after a few days and then forgot about it. But then a little while ago I noticed that it had been updated and read about the update. Then I read about all the other updates that had happened since launch. So I gave it another shot.

WOW, so glad I did. What astroneer does is take the survival / crafting / building genre and put a new and slightly different twist on it. With gorgeous graphics, a minimal UI, and sparse yet flawless sounds what ASTRONEER offers is less a game and more an interactive work of art. I played through the entire game over the next few days and found myself in a calm, relaxed, almost medatitive state of game play. Till the end of the game, there's always something to do, or you can just not do anything. The demands of the game are there, but not pressuring you. Be creative, explore, or just sight see. Or you can focus on the game, research, craft, gather. It doesn't matter, and the game doesn't force you to do what you don't want.

I highly highly recommend this one to anyone who likes the gather / craft / build genres of games.
