Midway through the ride, that flat-four boxer engine started feelin' hella sketch. Temp gauge climbing like it’s trying to catch air, coolant smell in the air like someone bailed hard. Yep, classic Subaru head gasket blowout—it's like the Achilles’ heel of those late '90s to mid-2000s Imprezas.
Basically, the head gasket's supposed to keep the oil and coolant in their lanes, but Subaru’s design back then? Not so tight. You ride that engine hard or clock enough miles, and boom—coolant starts mixin’ with the oil like two skaters heading for the same rail. Bad news. Overheating, white smoke from the exhaust, coolant vanishin’ like it’s ghostin' your radiator.
Stay steezy, and check that temp gauge before you shred too far from home.
You also have to build an engine in order to drive your "summer car".
