I know this game is getting a lot of hate for its graphics issues and stuttering so maybe those on the fence can get some better more balanced information. I have well over the required specs for my computer and when I got in, I used these settings on day one and it helped with the stuttering issues. Disabled motion blur and film grain and limit your frames to your monitor specs, I have a 144 fps so I put it at 120 and I left V-sync on. I was able to steam link to my smart tv that I got ages ago and play in my living room so my wife who also loves watching horror games could watch and I didn’t have stuttering issues.

As a lifelong fan of the Dead Space series, I believe the Callisto Protocol has done a great job at keeping the same atmosphere and thrill alive. I played Dead Space when I was much younger so the scare factor for my first playthrough was much higher, but the Callisto Protocol does a great job at making you feel uneasy at certain parts of the game and the jump scares do their job. Its hard for developers to make combat, movement, and location different from another predecessor game and the Callisto Protocol does a good job at bringing new things to the table. The melee combat is challenging at first but once you get the hang of it and kill a couple scores of enemies and die probably a couple dozen times as well, it gets rewarding. I am a fan of scripted and un-scripted fight instances and with the mix in melee it looks really cool, and you can capture your victories or death with the photo mode. Combat with more than one enemy will also raise your blood pressure trying to keep all the baddies in front of you and not behind since they can grab and beat you senseless.

I have finished the Callisto Protocol on Max Security and I have to say the game was amazing! Gripping story, intense end game combat, and the weapon unlocks are a blast. I think the Callisto Protocol did the snow landscape and frozen horror better than Dead Space III but Dead Space still holds the title for scary space interiors. Can't wait to see whats in store for us later when the DLC's drop since I got the season pass! Also thanks to the dev team for pushing out more and more updates to help others enjoy the game, it has also boosted the amount of frames I am getting so I was able to turn up more of the higher settings!
