The combat is well done, but the story is subpar and the characters are somewhat lackluster. If I were going to make a criticism, I would say it lacks depth. As an example, if the “love interest” (quotation marks because if she really is the love interest she has the emotional maturity of a cracked out koala with severe “my ♥♥♥♥ smells like unicorns” syndrome) were to die I would care only long enough to realize that I can’t remember her name. Really, it’s fun if you want the feel of beating up small animals while riding a rainbow (the “♥♥♥♥ fate” mode thing), but if you want to play an RPG as an actual RPG, I would suggest you go play Fable:TLC or Skyrim, though Skyrim has all of the depth of a Olsen twin, and stick to Dynasty Warriors for the kaleidoscopic kitten killing experience. KoA:R does have some nice fantasy elements, but not enough to really make it worth the cost.
