How do I post a "Neutral" review on steam?? - wait, this isn't google

More of an "interactive visual" than a "game" (the gameplay is very minimalist) that tells a very ambiguous story.

Either the game is trying to illicit emotion out of the player (something I never personally managed with media in general for the most part) or the people who recommended it have a much lower threshold for what ticks those boxes than I (nothing wrong with that - art is subjective etc).

It's saving grace was that it was short enough to wrap up in one sitting, but I wouldn't say it's worth going out of your way for, but your mileage will likely vary as one persons "pretentious artsy indie game that just wants to dance around and imply the story instead of telling it" is another mans masterpiece.

It wasn't until I finished it and talked through the story points with friends who enjoyed it, that I realised I'd missed a heap of context/implication - my advice would be to focus on the dialogue - it's easy to accidentally click through a lot of it and miss contextual cues that help you piece it together - I wouldn't say I blitzed through it by any means, but it was obvious I missed a few lines/didn't hold any importance in some of them that kinda "make" the story what it is for people who like it - there's a lot of vague implication that you're left to piece together and make yourself and I simply didn't make the necessary connections to "get it". My score would likely be higher if the dialogue was voice acted and unskippable as I'm sure there would be inflection in the delivery that would have helped.

Also, on further review of the steam page - ignore pretty much everything it says as while it's technically not wrong, it paints a VASTLY different picture of what the game/story is like

Just to go against the people complaining about the t's & c's/Privacy Policy - They're misreading/misinterpreting it - there's nothing that YOU will have to give up that you wouldn't have to give up to play any other live service game in your country - the only time you'll need to provide I.D. to play it is if that's already a requirement in your country.

Ignore the idiots, game's fun - especially for free

Early Access Review
It's day one of Early Access - of COURSE it's not gonna perform as well as you'd hope - I'd say peoples expectations are too high - that or my bar is just lower than most - who knows.

12700k, 3080, 32gb, 1440p - averaging 70-80 fps with some occasional drops to 50 - this is well within my "comfortably playable" range since it's not a twitch/reaction shooter like CS or Overwatch - if you feel like you need the frames to be competitive, that's fine, but I'd argue that since PvP isn't the "main focus", you don't "need" to be competitive.

AI are a bit dopey and there's not many items to loot/reasons to open locked doors beyond quests, but I'm sure that'll all get worked on and fleshed out in good time.

Lot's of fun for what it is, keen to play more and see how things progress.

At first, I didn't like it much - turns out I was trying to play it like it's Diablo, which then led to frustration.

I still don't have a great understanding of what the hell is going on in the game, but it's a lot of fun playing with friends (clothing optional)

Given I know a guy who would be upset by the portrayal of a certain sub-culture of people in a handful of cut-scenes make this game well worth the price of admission alone.

With a bit of time to have patches and such, it's become very playable and generally fun. DMZ is some of the most fun gameplay there is. Much as it's somewhat of a Tarkov clone, it's just easier to play and get into - normal multiplayer is fun, but still full of goobers who love to be juvenile idiots on VC (myself not excluded from that).

OG Review:
I honestly have no idea what the game is like when it's working, the game is legitimately good - cause but it keeps crashing, telling me that a file verification should fix it, launching, telling me to open it in safe mode, but then the game needs to restart after picking a game mode for some reason? Then Safe mode reverts half my settings and doesn't really provide any extra stability if you play on those lower settings.

I can't wait for people (myself included) to stop pre-ordering games so that developers stop rushing them out as an unfinished mess that doesn't work.

Another "Surprise 3am" game that you can just keep playing. Twitch integration is superb for adding another layer to everything. VERY worth the price of admission and then some

"Happy Tree Friends meets The Binding of Isaac meets Animal Crossing" was a pretty accurate description - yet it's more fun than that description would imply. Worth the price of admission
