Awesome arpg game that not even a smear campaign by competition could bring down.

No matter what you think about blizzard as a company, this a genuinely great arpg with cool story, captivating atmosphere, fun character building and last but not least satisfying combat and item drop/craft system. Best graphics I've seen in arpg game, too.

The current free week is essentailly a demo, you can play the game normally until level 20 so you can try the game for yourself and judge for yourself.

edit: made a barbarian character, named him Conan, kept playing him all the time. 38 hours in, completed campaign my character is level 56. Reached level 50 about 20 hours of playtime ago, and since then, it has been going really slowly. Don't let anyone tell you that reaching level 100 in this game is a quick and easy!

Now that we're done with that, let's proceed to the game.

The biggest upside of this game is that it looks nice.

However, unless you have supercomputer, you won't be able to enjoy the view outside of screenshots. The reason for that is terrible optimization. I have better specs then recommended, yet it stuttered all the time and crushed after a few minutes. Even people who have rtx 4090 complain about fps drops and crashes, the forums are full of such threads.

I am happy for a million or so chinese people currently playing the game that their country finally produced an AAA title, but I have to refund it until they fix it or I get a much, muuuch better pc.

(Also, the first thing the game asks you when you turn it on is permission to collect your personal information. What do they need it for?)

The game turned out much better then I expected based on reading reviews prior to playing it. At the core it's a decent souls like (not sekiro like), with dialogs and branching questlines affecting the ending(s). I appreciated the setting of french revolution, but it would probably hit harder if I knew who most of these characters based on historical people where (kinda like nioh hits harder if you know japanese history...)

The other reviews complain about two things:
-the game is too easy
-the game is poorly optimized.

Yesn't. The boss fights are much easier then in dark souls, partly due to having easy/predictable movesets, partly due to the fact you can trivialize them by stacking up on potions and grenades beforehand (estus flask is pretty much redundant here). However, the exploration of levels and fighting regular mobs was quite difficult and satisfying.

As for optimization, I have a pretty good computer (better then recommended on steam page) yet when I set graphics to ultra, it was stuttering quite a bit. So I lowered the graphic settings to high, and it run quite smoothly on that.

Overall, it was a fun 28 hours, and I may or may not go to ng+ eventually to get the remaining achievements.

Not a soulslike, just a 3D platformer. Most of the time you'll just be running around and jumping over ledges. Pfff. The combat system is also dumb, you just parry and counter. No armors, no weapons, no builds, no various stats to level up, no stamina bar, no souls. Not set in japan, it's set in ficitonal japan-like country.

Wish people told me all the above before.
