Not a soulslike, just a 3D platformer. Most of the time you'll just be running around and jumping over ledges. Pfff. The combat system is also dumb, you just parry and counter. No armors, no weapons, no builds, no various stats to level up, no stamina bar, no souls. Not set in japan, it's set in ficitonal japan-like country.

Wish people told me all the above before.

And, unlike in most crpgs, it was actually fun, rewarding and fitting the story and the setting.

The most important DLC

Arena and roaming nomads: great source of money and gear, especially early game

New gear: wepaons and armor good for early and mid game, grenades tho expensive are awesome always. Firearms are cool.

New enemies: Cool, and you can get ingredients to sell and craft items from them, including aforementioned grenades but also stuff like for example serpent skin mantle that is an armor upgrade that gives you not just durability but also fire and firearms resistance.

Trade: New goods to sell in the north, and also new markets to sell northen goods like amber or copper for good prices.

Terrain: Lotsa open terrain, I like it

Retinue: One time payment to get a permanent global upgrade, cool

Subject micromanagement hell

Other then that, bugs. I expected bugs, but this is something next level. Normal bugs like not being able to assign armies to frontline, convoy fluctuations and broken journal entry are one thing. But AI can't handle the new system, all the countries are getting bankrupt and the AI pretty much stopped building armies and navies.

Playing my first game in this update/dlc. It's 1880's now and for example usa still has only 17 divisons. Dunno how they gonna fix it other then massive AI overhaul, and how they didn't notice that while beta testing before release.

For now, keep playing 1.6. If you want to update to 1.7 guess it's a good idea to buy this dlc as without it it will be extra unplayable. But really, just stick to 1.6 until they fix the issues with this update. 1.6 was more or less complete game without any game breaking bugs and ai behaviors (other then AI not being able to do naval invasions efficently, which it still can't).

edit: they released a hotfix where they accidently added a line of code which made it so that countries won't befriend any country that is above 5 million gdp, which is every country aside from the smallest ones. This resulted in current patch version (1.7.3) being a hilarious deathmatch. But it's also kinda sad.

this is a nice game, but it was marketed incorrectly. it's not really a strategy game, nor an economic simulator, tho it has elements of both.

first and foremost it's an idle game.

while other paradox games can be compared to clicker games: that is, you may get carpal tunnel from clicking and micromanaging everything, here you just sit back, relax and wait until some timers run out, then click a couple more times, and wait for more timers to run out.....not even warfare requires your direct input.

and compared to other idle games on the market it's waaaay too overpriced. and just look at recent dlc price, it's like 2/3 of base price. What are they thinking?

edit: after finishing my first 100 year playthrough as austria (took only about 70 hours) I think east asia needs a dlc, women characters need to appear more often, and positivism is too prevalent. Also britian is op, but I don't mind having a final boss style country. There were some bugs.

The game is good, and has a potential to be even better.

edit2: over 120 hours over 10 days of gameplay, I haven't quite slept for a few days, or so I feel. You know what, it's a very addictive game, kinda like opium. Speaking of opium. Did you know you can get the english, all english people all over the world, addicted to opium if you play east india, try to switch to state atheism, and get opium for the masses event? And then you can get chinese addicted to opium through opium wars too.
