Unlike STALKER 2, the entire game world is actually simulated. All ships, from the lowest fighter to the biggest capital ships, come from real shipyards fueled by components that are actually mined, refined, and transported at each step of the process. The economy is so complete that cutting off a faction’s supply of a resource is a valid and encouraged move in war.

Seems to be machine translated: First text in game is “randomize feminine”. Can’t set male/female outside of random, only one option for lower body garment and it clips with a lot of the footwear. Menu has option to cap FPS at 30 or at 60, but neither setting works (both give FPS over 100)

Game seems to be hiding its use of the slur "body type" in demo, but otherwise shown as keeping it in final game.

Otherwise, I'm not impressed: Everyone looks like a Korean in makeup. EVERYONE: Black men, white women, children (actually, there's almost no options to customize child faces: Just pigmentation and eyes. They all have the same pudgy dough face.). There's limited or no body customization, and a few sliders don't seem to actually do anything or essentially nothing (you can slightly move bust around but can't actually give a character large breasts or flat chest). It seems to be random which clothing items have RGB customization and which don't and instead have dozen+ color variants.

There's also no hair color preset options, which s a really weird oversight: You're given full RGB settings but have no prospective of what "blonde" or "red" hair should look like in the game's pallet. Should red hair be #ff0000 or a more subdued #430c0a? Goes back to the "everyone looks like a Korean in makeup" problem.

After many failed, tasteless, cash ins on the name, Jagged Alliance has finally gotten an actual sequel and, surprisingly in this era of terrible live service p2w censored political virtue signaling, it’s actually good! Overall a very solid sequel that fixes some less than intuitive parts of JA2 and is a solid, fun, turn based tactics game overall.

Overall I’d say it’s a 4/5 held back from true greatness by a lot of minor issues.
Merc balance is all over the place. The cheapest explosives expert is, by far, the best of the explosives experts even before training.
Merc skill distribution is not ideal. There’s only 2 options for mercs with any skill in Leadership before the late game locked mercs and only one of the two is actually good at it, essentially ensuring the custom character is stuck in that role.
Some skills don’t get XP for all their uses, making them raise slower than they should.
Some odd balance choices like a hard cap on how many mercs you can hire at once (which will far under your actual ability to afford teams by midgame), artificially low damage on burst fire, the crafting system that’s actually a lot more shallow than it seems (while there’s a lot of parts to customize, almost every weapon comes down to overwatch, aim, or sneak crit builds) while having the “turn everything for parts” problem most crafting systems do
Custom IMP is boring compared to everyone else, even JA2’s IMP.

These flaws are all fixable (many already are with mods). I genuinely hope to see a Jagged Alliance 4 that addresses these issues.

Runs fine on Proton/Linux with one minor issue: I have to set the game to windowed then full screen on every boot to get the UI to align properly. It’s easily worked around, but worth noting.

I want to like this game, but everything about it feels like a prototype and not a finished product. Everything FEELS janky, in neither a "your character is struggling because novice" or comedic way, but just plain old not fun to play. The way the game handles the Z-Axis in particular comes off as an old ftp mmo with nominally action based combat. The story where your village is about to lynch you for an ancestor's debt in cutscenes but super helpful and do everything they can to assist you in making back payments is another thing that screams "is this actually a finished game?".

I can't even say mods can fix this.

You likely already know about the voiced protagonist with a fixed backstory issue, but it goes even further than that: The voiced protagonist keeps commenting on things outside of dialog with no prompting. This alone wouldn't be good, but these lines are hilariously inconsistent. "Your" character will go from screaming and panicking about their kid being kidnapped and freaked about all the dead bodies, then swoon over loot they can't yet access and how they'll have to come back for it later, then go back to freaking out over dead bodies, then decide to rip of one's arm for the gadget it has and they inexplicably know how to use.

The gunplay is OK at lower levels (more than can be said for 3/NV), but HP bloat of level scaled enemies makes that quickly evaporate.

The social part of RPGs is near absent and can't be fixed. Even with mods to let you actually see dialog options before using them, all the game's dialog suffers from an inane choice to make every dialog "choice" fall into yes, yes (but sarcastic), yes (but rude), or no (and many dialog paths don't even take no for an answer).

Itemization is horrific. F4 is a game that both throws hundreds of random pieces of loot at the player AND requires they sort through it all to find what they need (instead of a Morrowind esque system where all the "misc" items only exist to dress up the world) because of how you need resources to make your gear not suck.

Map design is bizarre. NPCs are located to 1/2 in random places except for ~3 cities (two of which are very close to each other and one of which is super tiny) and the four HQs of the mutually exclusive factions (which are also not that far from each other). The intent behind pushing all the social locations so close to eachother may have been to make Diamond City a hub, but Diamond CIty is a lousy hub with no internal variety. Areas you find have no rhyme or reason for their placement. The first area around Concord has a truck stop, robot junk yard, drive in theater, military monitoring outpost, transport logistics center, and a diner that's active (but still has 200+ year old corpses sitting in it!). Some of these are interesting(ish) shoothouses, but none of them really build a cohesive world and (due to level scaling and settlements forcing hundreds of trash items on you) actually have anything interesting to find in them.

Mods are totally powerless to fixes most of the issues: You aren't going to add a sensical world, NPCs to interact with, good quests or functioning dialog. Even the issues that can be fixed suffer from modder megolmania that's worse than Civil War Overhaul. Want a mod that rebalances the HP sponges? Hope you like it being packed with making the already lame and tedious settlements even more lame and tedious (but never difficult or putting their rewards out of reach), a body replacer that's mentioned nowhere in the documentation and overwrites everything due to the load order mandates, things done in a way to force the game to crash without a compatibility patch, and more! There's also the issue that a lot of the relatively early mods were made on various framework systems that are now deprecated so you've got your work cut out for you in FO4Edit if you want to actually use them.

(Note: The easiest way to get the third party utilities needed for most mods to work on Proton makes the mod manager count toward play time. At least half of recorded "play" time was spent troubleshooting mods or forgetting to close the manager after closing game)

The showstopper level bug associated with this DLC was fixed in early 2023. Now it works as intended.

Face models for female characters all look really ugly, and there's weird "pronoun" stuff in the character creation.

This DLC has some of the game's best made levels, and its best humor. It's absolutely worth your 50 cents if you're grabbing the base game.
