While it's Early Access, it's progressing pretty nicely and is fully playable in almost all aspects.

Update:
While final release wasn't as complete as one would like, the game is absolutely worth the price. The improved mod support, with stackable modules, is a great improvement over Warband. No TCs out yet though.

One of those almost perfect games where the only complaint (now that Denuvo has been removed) is that it could have more content. At the time of posting this I’ve beaten the main game, but haven’t attempted the optional challenges. Doesn’t even have the problem of most 2.5d platformers where ledges and where you fall aren’t clear.

PC port seems excellent. Only real issue is you can't quit the program from a stage, which is a very negligible problem. Very lean too at just over 2GB of data.

This game has perhaps one of the worst tutorials I've ever seen. It repeatedly tells you about basic video game functions (check your journal, equip the item you just got) yet tells you the bare minimum about things that are actually unique to the game like combat.

Past that it's a long series of grind and P2W.

A very silly, but surprisingly deep, game with a bunch of branching paths and hidden content to find.

Unfortunately the port was fairly wonky at release and even now has some issues. Still, it's generally better off than trying to play the original PS3 version.

I'm only bothering to review this because apparently the the low review scores were a factor in WotS5 not happening, even though they're all about port quality rather than the game itself.

(Got game for free as beta tester for port. Bought PS3 version way back when.)

The game itself is good, but a handful of issues that could have easily been fixed really keep the game from being a 5/5 and only let it reach a low 4/5.

Firstly is the very long opening quest. This quest is largely on rails to an extensive degree and goes on for like 2+ hours. Even after you finish it, the game really expects you to clear the next 3 quests (another 2-3+ hours) in short order since the full fighting tutorial (which unlocks some basic moves you can't use before this) and a set of basic gear are behind the first one (or two since the tutorial itself is technically a different quest), the second one has to be done the day after that one, and the third is forced to begin after finishing the second. This is particularly bad because between the 2nd and 3rd there's a time skip in narrative that could have easily been replaced by forcing the player to wait ~a week of game time to progress and give the player time to do open world stuff (or even just sell off the gear they just looted at the end of the last one).

Second is the combat is ruined by how overly powerful and common counter attacks are. Any moderately competent foe can counter attack at random. This means the player is highly encouraged to make every fight a matter of waiting till the enemy attacks and counter them to start a chain. It renders most fights that can't be won by killing them from a distance with a bow largely the same.

3rd is that some realism features, only letting the player save while sleeping or consuming a rareish item and lack of a bow reticle, should have been reserved for hardcore mode. There are mods to fix these though.

One of the very few Kickstarter games that not only came out, but didn't suck. Easily one of the best in its genre.

I've played the original PSP version and it's fun, and the graphics look properly upgraded or remastered from the source instead of just run through a filter. Unfortunately this port has some serious issues. Wait till they're fixed.

UPDATE (02/06/19): The primary issue has been fixed. New Game is still the default mention selection, but it's ultimately a minor issue.

The most serious is that buffs (e.g., Atk Up) crash the game. Given the game is impossible on normal or harder without them or cheats and this is 100% reproducable, I don't see how this escaped testing.

For whatever reason, the framerate is capped at 31/32. I wouldn't care if it was locked as 30, as the game is turn based, but 31 FPS lock points to something weird.

While the dialog is fine (so far), the secondary/menu text has a lot of issues. Right from the start the don't pirate this game screen has weird linebreaks, leaving "internet" on its own line. Some incomprehensible abreviations are used in places where there's more than enough room for something comprehensible: What's "EEN1Rank Up" supposed to mean? The menus have plenty of text that escapes the screen (and this occurs on all resolutions I tried it on) like the weapon descriptions. Also there's one bar NPC in the first town refers to 衣心念身の儀 as "Cyclonize" (the official romanization, though it was completely arbitrary on the part of the original devs and doesn't make sense to an English speaker) but the English artbook calls it "Unification Ritual" (which is a sensisble translation). I have no idea which is used in the game itself when it actually shows up since it's farther into the game than I am (and likely won't get to it till the buff issue is fixed), but it's a worrying bit of inconsistency in the name of a major mechanic. There's also an item to give to a girl named "Sapphire Rocket", which I'm pretty sure is supposed to be "Locket".

Also new game is highlighted by default when starting the game. This was not an issue on PSP where "Continue" was the default option. Also there is nothing noting "Save successful" or the like, which is a bit weird when saving is instant. There's also no option to reset what button is the "confirm" button (bottom or right face button) after the initial setup (though I do appreciate that they included it)

Night in this game is very dark without light sources. I was once in the middle of nowhere when night fell and had to fight a cyclops with only the light of my attacks and the flaming balista bolts that were firing from out of sight and hitting my general area. Only as the battle continued on and the sun began to break did I realize I was fighting two cyclops the whole time.

Hey! Let's put a no name actress and her brother as DLC! Who wouldn't want to buy that!

Answer: Everyone. Really wish this didn't come bundled with the version I bought.
