Vergil is an astonishingly bad character.

Even when you're able to appreciate DmC for what it is in a vacuum, Vergil is still such a joke of a character narratively. Does NOTHING in the story to demonstrate his strength aside from killing a couple dudes with guns off screen, actually gets some form of power shown after closing the Hell Gate but still yells at Dante to do something when he's in any tight situation, and then you're supposed to be intimidated by him in the end? Like, yeah, the story is very okay at best, but I feel Vergil is the absolute weakest link. Legitimately I believe that noticeably more people would appreciate DmC if Vergil was actually built up throughout the story. Or at LEAST in the last few missions. Sort of like he's backed into a corner in some way, therefore being forced to show off how strong he actually is so when you realize he's wanting to "rule" and you're about to fight him, you actually feel intimidated. Vergil's fight itself is decent, in my opinion, it just, again, doesn't feel tense whatsoever since Vergil's been a pushover combat-wise the entire game.

Game's fun though and more people should play it. Vergil is, however, a Chud.
