I’ve recommended it to pretty much all of my friends at this point. Most of them were hooked immediately after giving it a try.

Atari recently bought the studio that made this game after Ronimo Games sadly went bankrupt. They've been hard at work making sure the codebase is ready for the foreseeable future. They've shown they have a grasp on the codebase by restoring all content from the final version onto an earlier version of the game (one before Ronimo swapped the Steam servers for dedicated ones). I now feel confident they can maintain and even expand this game.

Here’s a quick list of things I like and dislike in Awesomenauts.

Things I like:
- Easy to learn
- Many characters with unique play-styles
- Less serious than other ‘MOBA’ games
- All of the unique soundtracks per character (each character has a theme song and a killing spree song, sometimes multiple with skins). The voice acting is super cheesy in the best way too.
- You can turn a match around at almost any point in the game

Things I dislike:
- Long time players outnumber the new ones, so starting out is rather difficult.
- Bots are too good or too bad depending on the character (sometimes performing better than the player that left, turning the game around)

Conclusion:
The folks at Ronimo (and now Atari) did a really good job at adapting the MOBA genre to work as a 2D platformer. They’ve created a game that really made it to the top of the list of my favorite games of all time (and that’s saying something, I’ve played A LOT of games). I’d recommend this to pretty much anyone.
