it doesn't seem like Valve is going to put in the uphill-effort and resources to continue to create effective anti-cheat in this game specifically.
if you love this game, stay off official servers to keep yourself safer from harassment from these bad actors.
Community servers are user-run and more often than not have effective measures to remove bots and cheaters from their games, so you can still enjoy the content the game has to offer, and is continuing to offer in the way of paid cosmetics.

I seriously can't recommend this game enough.
It's constantly getting updates that are meaningful and add wonderful new things and quality of life to the game, the gameplay is absolutely amazingly fun, and not to mention easy to get back into after taking a break.
This game can be played alone fairly well, but like most of its kind it shines brightest during multiplayer, so absolutely pick this up to learn with a friend.

if you're a fan of turning on the lizard brain to mine some minerals and customize your loadout so you can explode bugs and use your utilities to help your team in your own special way, this is absolutely for you.

Ive been playing this since early access, and I'm so proud of the devs for being what feels like the only few to make a game that busts out of EA with such flying colors.

TLDR: Great game, but it isn't going to get any updates anytime soon.

This game is /incredibly/ fun for the first five or ten playthroughs with friends- (and I emphasize the with friends part, this game gets hard solo!). Imagine dark souls with friendly fire, no true bosses, no invaders and a small crafting system.

I'd highly reccomend buying this when it goes on sale, but it's not a game to keep playing in the long run. It needs more to it, another class-more items to get, different modes or more enemy types, to feel like a full game. I won't deny that I enjoyed it, but whenever I look at it now and ask my friends, we all agree on a 'meh, what is there to do'. (not to mention the bug with my headphones is widely known and still in the game, which makes it a chore to run)

Buy it with some friends if you enjoy a team-work, roguelike challenge, play it for as long as you like, those are just my two cents.
