As someone who is terrified by undersea lifeforms and has severe thalassophobia... This game was amazing.

There are obviously moments were I had to panic a bit, but overall really chill, fun and cute game.

Beautiful game.

The only gripe I have with it is the pricing, because you can explore the whole story in around 2 hours and the only extra content is a little sandbox mode to build Legos; but if you get it on sale for 5 bucks or less it is totally worth it.

Relaxing, cute, beautiful and a great stress relief.

Early Access Review
This game feels like being addicted to drugs. Except it is cheaper. And healthier.

EDIT: The feeling persists but I no longer know if it is cheaper and/or healthier.

Incredible sequel to the already great Shadow of Mordor. If you just want to get lost in Middle-Earth and do absolutely anything you want in there this is your game.

Also, the Eladriel DLC is pretty decent and the Baranor one is great, adds a whole new layer of gameplay once your done with the main story and everything else.

This was interesting to say the least. It was a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ trip from start to end.

Highly recommended as a background game to blow off some steam while getting your mind blown aswell.

Big fan of the series since the PSX era and this conclusion to the Mishima saga doesn't disappoint at all.

For the first installment in PC, the game plays incredibly well, has really nice graphics and, overall, feels great and satisfying to play.

Update: although I'm not a huge fan of the DLC packs as a concept, I guess if they are discounted some off the Season Passes might be worth for the novelty and/or nostalgy factor.

Update 2: kinda salty about the editions upgrade, but also grateful for new players.

TL;DR: it's a fun hack'n'slash game but not that great overall; you could buy it on sale and squeeze in a few hours of combos and destruction.

The reboot of this franchise doesn't really make justice as far as its preceding reputation goes. It's polished, fun but, in the end, nothing too special.

PROS
  • It plays really well; combat feels fluent, fun and fast.
  • As with other similar games in this genre, the difficulty curve is really well established. The mechanics are really easy to understand and execute but really tough to master if you really wanna chain a lot of combos.
  • There's tons of replayability value (collectibles, secret missions, endless mode to practice your skills...)
  • The soundtrack is SUPERB, made by Noisia (drum'n'bass) and Combichrist (industrial alternative rock) and fits really well into the game aesthetic as a whole, aswell as in the boss fights.

CONS
  • This might be personal preference, but I enjoyed way more the old system (e.g. DMC3) where you had just a melee weapon and a long range weapon, choosing them before each mission as you unlocked a bigger selection. Right now, this game maps all the weapons at once in the controls and sometimes it feels as if you cannot certainly get the attack you want with the weapon you intend to.
  • The angel weapons feel way overpowered because they have a lot of reach, cover short to long range and help you deal a lot of single target damage or spread it as a form of crowd control. Demon weapons are really limiting in comparison (short range, slow but powerful).
  • The unlockable ranged weapons, a shotgun and a 'flare' gun, feel absolutely useless. They deal little damage, disrupt the flow of the battle and don't really help you chain or maintain combos (honestly, the basic pistols are great for this, even some of the aforementioned angel weapons do a better job of throwing disrupting projectiles).
  • The story and the characters are really dull. Cookie-cut edgy protagonist/antagonist with generic f**k you kind of dialog and all the stupid tropes you could think about (d**k measuring jokes included, what a surprise).

I have the feeling that Platinum Games work their way with this kind of games way better than Ninja Theory, so you might aswell buy Bayonetta for (probably) cheaper on sale and find a better experience.
