I initially picked this up because I love card games, I love fantasy games, I love RPGs, and this meshes the three. I stayed though because this is a DEEP game. The interactions between races and classes, the playstyles between them, and the narrative of every game are amazing. You can get so far just picking it up, playing well, and having a bit of luck. But there's a point where all the subtleties and niches start to make sense, and you find ways to eek out more damage, or better summons, or defend better than expected from the main card abilities, and then it starts to all click together. And I'm pretty sure I've only scratched the surface. You CAN play casually and enjoy it, but spend some time figuring it out and this game is a gold mine.

My nightmares used to relate to loss, abandonment, harm...

They are simpler now and far more terrifying. Somewhere, in all the mess of rails and supply chain management... I missed a single switch.

One of my favorite games of all time. Having just purchase the sequel, I wanted to come back and give this another try... never beat it, but determined more than ever.

I have an awful addiction to this game, owning every physical version, all the addons and most of the accessories. Despite the problems with mobile, I've been playing on iOS and Android from the beggining on seperate accounts (my iPad isn't as accessible as my phone). Being able to tie them together is a HUGE plus for me.

The PC version adds yet another layer of polish to the game that I'm excited for as well, and am enjoying considerably.

My own con to this is the 'video game bonus' aspect of what they're adding. I didn't really enjoy all the treasure cards and such from the mobile. Now adding one-time bonuses to the mix seems to trivialize things more. That being said, this game can be very difficult at times, so the new bonuses will likely make it less frustrating for new players, so that's a good thing. I can always just choose not to use them.

Well, this was a surprise hit for me. Scratches several different itches all at once. Very casual friendly, yet extremely rich gameplay. Little choices make subtle, but deep effects in the game. Great use of game themes and mechanics that break the mold.

Beware of epic encounters...

The game play is fun. After awhile, I got used to the 2D/Broadsides combat, and it doesn't feel like I'm missing as much as I feel I should. But, it's not as fleshed out as it could be either. Otherwise, it's a great modern freeform space sim that lets you live the life of a spacer with a clear mission to work on in the meantime.

The best thing for me, though, is the soundtrack. It's rare to find a game that completely nails it to the point that the soundtrack becomes so crucial to the game that without it, it starts to fall apart. I made the mistake of trying to customize the soundtrack... I thought I could mix my own flavor of dirty-guitar, bluesy rock, etc, and I should have just left it alone. When you hear friends talk about how great the soundtrack of Fallout 4 is and how well it helps define the game... that's the level of audio immersion in atmosphere that comes to mind here. Parallels to Firefly have been drawn a thousand-times over already, and the soundtrack is as responsible for that relationship as anything else. I rarely care about game music, and often turn it off, but here... I'll never listen to a space sim the same way again.

Followed instructions, built a boat.

edit: ok, look, I've built the boat... I really need to move on with my life. 11/10?

Child of Light was a beautiful experience that I'm glad I took the time to play through. That being said, it was boring a few times, and while the character development seemed to appear to have promise at first, it really felt like the choices were meaningless and something you just had to click the buttons on to move forward.

I would very much recommend anyone who likes story, roleplay, and/or visual poetry to play the game once. Just know that you'll definitely be ready to move on to something else the moment it's over.

I may be the only person on the face of the planet that absolutely loathes Terraria and still likes Starbound. While the concept of Terraria sounded appealing to me, the interface, controls, lack of any direction at all gave me no motivation to play and I ended up more frustrated trying to figure out how to do things and spent more time with that than actually playing. I could have given it more time, sure; but, with hundreds of other Steam games in my library, I put my time elsewhere.

Enter: Starbound. That tiny bit of a nudge in giving you a direction and motivation to do something (even if it's to cook meat) was all the nudge I needed. Even if I spend hours ignoring a quest objective, just having it there points me towards caring about something in the game. The interface is a lot cleaner in Starbound as well, and recipe management for crafting is done leaps and bounds better than Terraria. Some people I know that have played this don't see much difference between Terraria and Starbound, and I can understand that on some level; but I see a phenominal contrast and it's a contrast that makes this game both playable for me in the first place, and highly enjoyable.

And the music in this game is essentially worthy of its own review... it kicks the immersion up levels above most anything else in my game library.

And this game is still only in early beta... I can't wait to see more.
