This game is incredible, a masterpiece. A little non-spoiler review

After a nightmarish session of modding that took some hours, it runs incredible and looks great for a 2003 game. The modding list I used is here[kotor.neocities.org]

The story is immediately more Star Wars than any of the ♥♥♥♥ Disney has put out the last years. The voice acting is amazing and better than most 3A schlock they put out. The companions you meet are interesting and most are conflicted so you are always at least curious about what they have to say. The choices you have feel impactful and what you do will immediately send you over to either light or dark side.

The combat is dated, ngl. There is turn based combat that has a dice roll mechanic the results of which are hidden from you. These dice rolls will determine if you hit, get hit, apply status or get status applied to you, and so on. There´s ranged and melee, powers from either side of the force and extra abilities you can use to play around. You got nades and mines and all the good stuff. Companions help a lot in damage and utility but you gotta be mindful cause they may interfere with what you plan on doing yourself so synergies and strategy are something to always keep in mind. It's awesome but you fell the age, and sometimes companions just stand there or rush to fight a close enemy when sometimes you don't expect.

You got 3 class archetypes, there's a lot to choose from in terms of skills, attributes and such. There's also the option to auto-level up that will assign points when leveling up based on what the game recommends for your class. I did that for all my companions but not for me. Clothes and weapons are varied so you get a lot of choices on what you want to prioritize for you or your companions.

The maps are little slices that you travel to and from to other areas. There's much to explore and secrets to discover. In some areas, exploration awards you with computer terminals to make some levels and spaces easier to handle, for example. You go to different planets, meet different characters, help with different things and all of the locales have their own story and missions. You can learn a lot from the lore of each race by taking time to talk to the NPCs and its amazing. There's a lot of story to sink your teeth into and aside from the main story, nothing feels mandatory but its a joy to do.

All in all. I can't believe it took me this long to play. I'm so happy I did.
