Elden Ring is special to me, it changed my standards in terms of a real quality game.

For me, To this day nothing comes close to the amount of content it delivered especially with the variety of builds you can make, learning how to control and master your character movement and weapon arts, true exploration, good character stories and deep lore.

With the amount of secrets and mysteries, It is not the type of game that you will understand fully on your first run, there are a lot of missable stuff, equipments/sidestories etc. You may have to watch a couple of lore videos about it especially if you don't have time to do a second run/NG+, or don't have a lot of time to dig deeper.

You can always edit your character looks and gender anytime, you'll also have an access to rebirth later in game so don't worry if you mess up your build/stats.

If you're new to this genre, try to be more strategical first, learn the move set of your preferred weapon, be patient, watch your enemies movement and go for the opening, don't rush into the kill and be greedy. The game is not a "hacknslash" and if you treat it like one you will have a hard time playing it and will die a lot.

Remember this is a soulslike, there is a learning curve, listen to the NPCs and don't just skip a conversation! it's easy to get lost in this game.

Beginner tips:
If you're going to fight a boss, make sure you don't have a lot of spare runes, use it always as soon as you reach the requirement to level up. Don't bank it and yolo when exploring a new area. Dying is = Losing Rune = No money to level up and buy stuff. Trust me it will give you a stress free run!



For the Negatives, all I can say after playing a 1000+ is the PVP connection is still a hit or miss... its great when it works and really really bad if you're always connecting to long distant players. The Region Matchmaking is not really working well for me so I hope FromSoftware fixes this.. before or after DLC comes out..

That's it! for me this is still a GOTY even after 2 years especially with the dlc coming out in June! I'm just excited and ready to play more of it when it comes out.
