It's air hockey. Don't expect anything else but air hockey. Anyway, it's air hockey in a great package. A lot of characters and plenty of additional options and features (mallets, pucks, achievements, missions, challenges, etc.) add surprising depth and immersiveness to this rather simple game. It adds unexpected complexity and addictiveness to a rather menial game. The graphics are also super nice for an air hockey game. Especially the NPCs are really nicely designed and come with distinct personalities which makes them quite likeable. Unfortunately the sounds are too repetitive and they may get annoying. If I had to hear one more "ohnonono" from Furry I would've probably broken the screen.

The worst thing about this game is the lack of multiplayer. I mean, come on, it's air hockey, imagine how cool multiplayer would have been! Leaderboards can never compensate. If it had multiplayer, it would've been a great game. Otherwise, it's just good.

Yeah, everybody says it, the controls are somehow clunky and make the gameplay sometimes frustrating. But it's a 2D platformer, and except for Trine, all the ones I played are pretty much the same in terms of clunkiness and frustration. That doesn't make Deadlight any less nicer and it shouldn't make it so... underrated.

It comes with immersive, atmospheric visuals that make smart use of hues and nuances to make the game look really cool. I love the way it looks, though it's only a 2D platformer.

The story is also quite interesting and the voice acting is pretty nice. Deadlight also comes with Steam achievements and trading cards. Overall, I don't regret getting it at all, and I'm really sorry to see so many negative reviews about it just because people are used with too easy games nowadays.

The game is indeed a great survival adventure and I don't regret wanting it and then buying it at all, but I also can't deny that I'm pretty disappointed in developer's choice of not supporting "Steam achievements". I like tracking my progress and my dedication for a game through those achievements, and displaying those was often the only way of showing off.

I don't mind the perma-death and the frustration that comes with it, it's a survival game after all. It reminds me quite a lot of those WC3 survival maps, which is a good thing cause those were really fun, but also of Faster Than Light because of the frustration and perma-death parts.

Anyway, the game is awesome, artsy without getting fancy, complex without getting complicated, and incredibly addictive. I can hardly wait the arrival of the multiplayer mode too.

Maybe the game is great and whatnot, maybe it's the best shooter there is, but I don't have a lifetime to wait for the "Loading" and "Pre-caching" screens to disappear and let me play (on both the two computers where I tried playing this game).

It takes absurdly long for the game to load. I'm just a human being, I don't have the patience of a God. Did it took a few good minutes to load and it still didn't load? Then I'm effing out of here !!!

Metaphors? Meaningfulness? Press W to win, spend 5 minutes, have some patience, get the achievement, feel sad if you actually watched the screen. The paradox of simplicity.

I've started playing Pid at the same time with FEZ. Both three-letter titles, both platformers, both Indie, both obtained without any real financial effort (I had FEZ from an old bundle and got Pid for free from the well-known giveaway). FEZ had a huge Metascore rating (91 if I remember correctly), while PID has a mere 63. Therefore I had no expectations of PID. Yet it proved so much better than FEZ.

The graphics are really fine. There's a lot of creativity put into them, reminding me somehow of a colored Limbo. Both artistic and original, I prefered them anytime to the already-ubiquitous 16-bit approach of FEZ.

The gamestory is decent. It's not exactly impressive but also far from ridiculous or disappointing. Despite being dull at times and lacking wit, the few dialogs are passable as well.

The gameplay is its best part in my opinion. It finds the right way of being challenging without being frustrating, and this can make it unbelievable addictive. It can be very difficult at points, but since the levels are short and the checkpoints are often, you often get to feel the satisfaction of solving a level and that's what makes it so addictive. It keeps you playing without feeding you false rewards or ridiculously easy challenges.

Until you get to the boss known as the "crook". Then you might experience some frustration like never before.

There's also plenty of complexity involved in terms of items, scenes and characters, and the music really adds to the awesome overall atmosphere created by the neat graphics.

I hardly managed to play a bit more than an hour of FEZ and then I realized I had no fun and had no idea what was I supposed to do and why. I'm about to reach my 5th hour of playing PID and I can hardly wait for my next work break to give it another go.

In my humble opinion, it's really unfortunate that this game was the subject of that giveaway. It makes it look so much cheaper and lacking attractivity. A lot of people now have it just for the sake of having one more game in their library. That's too bad, Pid deserves a lot much more than that. On the other hand, that's how I got it too, and I love it.

This is not a game. It's an interactive story where clicking is required to progress from scene to scene and from dialog to dialog. The fact that from times to times some ridiculously easy puzzles have to be solved in order to progress doesn't exactly make it a game. There's nothing challenging about it.

Anyway, its best part is the story. It's a complex story that treats matters of life and death in such way that it gets to be felt quite close and personal. I completely don't recommend this to depressive people. I was on the verge of busting into tears several times throughout its duration. The story is great, very touching and impactful. It's hard to speak about it without spoiling it, but I guess I could say it somehow reminds of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, the movie, but only in just a few aspects.

Other than the story (but damn, what a story!...), there was nothing I liked about how "To the moon" presented itself to me. The soundtrack supports the story pretty well, it enhances the feelings that the story transmits, but it gets cheesy at points, near the end. Don't get me wrong, it's an awesome soundtrack that clearly shows the loads of work it required, but it's just not my type, I'm more into the Bastion-like soundtracks.

Many people seem to have found the strength to tolerate the awful graphics, but I still can't ignore them. It's an "RPG Maker"-like, uber low budget kind of graphics that ruined for me the immersiveness of the "to the moon" experience at points. Since the clicking and controlling was also quite imprecise, I think I would've even prefered a slideshow of still images instead of some of the scenes where just moving around was pretty annoying and tedious.

It also lacks basic settings like sound volume controls, full screen / window mode toggling, screen resolution settings, all the basic stuff. At least it comes with steam cloud support and a pretty neat, single "Steam achievement".

Anyway, I don't regret the money spent on it and the 3 hours and a half that it took me to finish it. It's a great experience. It's also, indeed, worthy of still being considered the saddest game of all. I submit to this general opinion as well.

It's more of a "meh". Not bad enough to mark it as "Not recommended", but also far from impressive, and worse of all, quite far from being completely worthy of having "Sid Meier" in its title. When I think of "Sid Meier" games, I think of intricate, comprehensive games that come with challenging learning curves and huge levels of complexity. Ace Patrol: Pacific Skies is far from that: it's small and rather simplistic.

The graphics are really messy at points. Don't expect it to look good. The plane models are the only graphic part I enjoyed.

It can get quite complex, challenging and captivating if you play it on higher difficulty levels. Anyway, the complexity is not given by the number of plane models, skills or upgrades, but mostly by the number of movement possibilities. This can also make it get boring after a while.

Still, you can have a lot of fun with it, especially if you like playing the more-chilled turn-based strategy games or if you're into history or fighter planes. It's a Sid Meier title after all, so it's worth having, especially if you can get it on a discount.

It's a good game, don't get me wrong, it's a unique game that comes with an original concept, nice graphics, and it's worth having. It's also pretty relaxing.

But I feel like I was somehow deceived by it: it's not a God-game, I was never playing the role of a truly omnipotent creature in it (except for choosing the placement and the type of the terrain and the resources there was nothing much else that I could control), and it's not even by far a civilization-like strategy/simulation management thingy. It felt more like a time & space management game, a puzzle game more similar in gameplay to those pathetic Facebook-based restaurant/cookie time management games. I, personally, get bored of this kind of games quite quickly, as they feel too repetitive and tedious to me. But I'm also conviced that many people will have a lot more fun than I did playing this game.

For games like this I wish there was a button between "Yes" or "No" when asked if I recommend this game - something like "Under certain conditions", or "Depending on what kind of gamer you are" or simply "Undecided/Unsure", or something... you get the point.
