For all it's ups and downs, and there have been many, few games have ever managed to keep me playing for 1000+ hours. The gunplay, the world design, and lore, and more recently the story are all excellent.

Edit/Update: the game while still fun, has had a lot of issues the past year. From lack luster story, to strange and frustrating balance changes. It is still fun, and has a lot to offer, but if you are a new player, I would think twice about starting it. If you have friends to play with, it makes the very rough new player onboarding much better, or if you have someone to help you navigate the start same thing. But if you are solo, you will feel overwhelmed and undirected.
