Whats not to say?

Great game that scratches that creative and battle itch. Best when played with another person. I don't think dedicated servers have been released yet which is the only thing holding this game back.

I mean, whats left to say that hasn't been said.
People who hate challenging games are going to hate it.
People who love challenging games are going to praise it.

This is the souls genre perfected, and a shining example of what not rushing a game out the door looks like.
If you like Skyrim on hard mode, get the game. If you can't handle it stick to The Sims.

Its like Apex without the time sync. I can jump on and play whenever, make progress, and don't have to sink 30-45 minutes into one round. It's stripped down to the fun stuff. Everything is cosmetic, so everyone has the same weapons and no advantage just because you are level 60 and unlocked the top gun.

I don't usually end up buying early access games anymore after having been burned too many times in the past. After reading and viewing a few videos about Valheim and looking over the companies roadmap I decided to pull the trigger.

I've been having fun so far and have brought 4-6 people into the fold over the last week who have ended up spending more time than I have in game. The game feels much further along than most early access games.

Pros: Graphics are beautiful for their resource friendly design, especially the environments. The crafting has a very similar feel to Conan's without the cluttered skill tree / recipe tree. All recipes and skills are unlocked through your actions in the game. You can play one character across you personal instance or take it into a friends / community server (although I highly suggest keeping at least 2 characters if you don't want to end up losing your stuff on your "main"). The setting is awesome, and seeing Odin's ravens utilized as info points as your progress is cool. The physics for the material gathering like cutting down trees is great, taking the angle of the tree, which side you cut on, and the direction of the wind into account when it falls. The trunk can bring down other trees around it and also do damage to creatures and your character if you are not careful. There is also taming in the game, but I think its only for the hogs at the moment.

Cons: While the graphics are beautiful in their simple design, a little more detail at least on the character models and some of the creatures could help. Material weight needs a better balance, some of the weights just don't make any sense (smelting the impurities out of a lump of iron makes it weigh 12, up from 10?).

The biggest con the game has going for it at the moment is that it can get laggy during multiplayer. This is due to the way the game randomly selects who's machine is in control of the data processing in a given area. They have stated the issue is known and that there is plan to make the connections better.

Overall I would give this game a Must Buy, its by a great developer and shows huge promise to go with its already great offering. $20 well spent.

Good game, but fix lag please

V3 update. whew. This is a massively unfinished update, they should not have released this yet, i tried it, this isn't so much a update as it is a showcase, they took everything FUN out of the game, for me: There is no cars, sewer, frogs, weapons, beach, sharks, etc. that is everything FUN about the game, all they really did, was update the graphics (Massively) and change a few things here and there, this update is not fun, an any way, IMO its very bad honestly, IF they released a more finished update, with the weapons, frogs, sewers, and Beach, this would be far more fun. It doesn't help that to me, this game is unplayable without the Jetpack, as you can't really run in the game, as you fall over to much, and its very annoying, so far, this update is very bad to me, i really hope they implement the actually fun stuff, soon.
For now i am sticking to LEGACY.
