This isn't quite Civ V, yet, but it is one of the more polished vanilla Civ games I've ever played. Although the game looks more light-hearted than previous iterations, due to what I would argue is a more 'cartoonish' art style, there is still plenty of depth and the ability to grow cities beyond the initial hex is definitely for the better. Overall, very much worth getting if you enjoy the genre or, even, if you're a relative newcomer.

I've been playing DoW for the past few years and I keep going back to it time and again. It's probably not the best RTS but it works brilliantly within the context of the WH40K universe and it is one of the most consistently fun games I've ever played. Just hearing the Orc scream of 'WAAAAGH' and the pious words of the Emperor's faithful Space Marines are enough to make this game one of my favourite 40K experiences. It's very different from the tabletop vesion but it still has a great deal to offer players, in terms of different races and the iconography of the rich 40K universe, and deserves to be seen as a game which has stood the 'Test of Time'.

Some of the best RTS fun I've ever had. A truly wonderful evocation of the Warhammer 40K universe and well worth playing even for those who aren't fans of the tabletop game, due to the tight controls, engaging gameplay and genuine strategic challenge of commanding a small but expert squad against often overwhelming odds.
