STRIKE THE EARTH

Hell yes

Actually pretty cool. Don't learn anything about this game, just play it.

Let me start this off by saying that I grew up playing the original two Doom games. This game is definitely not either of those. This game is, however, the sequel they needed, and it's packed full of references to the originals. It's a modern FPS with varied environments, more colors than brown, lots of movement (if you stand still you WILL die.)

Glory kills at first are incredibly fun and satisfying, but towards the end of the game I found myself just using them strategically. I think id focused a bit too heavily on them, with so many upgrades and achievements being based on them, but it's entirely possible to go through the game not using them at all.

The levels are filled with secrets that you will miss if you are not paying very careful attention. They hide items, collectibles, upgrades and story items. The story is very non-intrusive. There are a few cutscenes that cannot be skipped, but they are only ever a minute or two. Most of the story is found in data logs and descriptions of enemies and weapons that can either be read or completely ignored. However, this was the first time I actually found myself reading all these descriptions because I was genuinely interested. The main character is the same as in the original two games, and you discover much more about him, and about the story of the Doom universe, but only if you care to. If your goal is to run really fast and shoot demons, that's all this game has to be.

Would DEFINITELY recommend picking up this game.

Pretty much the same game with a new story as New Order, and that's perfect.

I've lost several entire days to this game. Buy it if you have free time, don't do what I did.

This game is a work of art. It is one of the best games of our generation. I play this game professionally and am writing this review in hopes of bringing more new people to the scene!
