In my eyes, the best game ever made. Let me elaborate.

Fallout: New Vegas created a world in a way which no other contemporary game has done.(especially not 3 and 4 of the same franchise) Many questlines are convoluted with choices that allow for different outcomes.
The first quest alone allows you to either side with Tutorial Town or to burn that place to the ground with some outlaws, while being littered with little side objectives that might make it easier, or lead to extra rewards. This sets a precedent that the rest of the game does not struggle to live up to.

Not only do single quests allow for immense player-choice (and consequence), but also the game world as a whole. New Vegas is split politically and you can pick your allegiances and friends, as well as your enemies and who to eradicate completely. When I first got the game, I immediatly hammered out four full playthroughs, just to side with all the major factions and see the diferent endings. The conflicts are inherently INTERESTING COUGH FALLOUT 4 COUGH and NOT ONE SIDED COUGH FALLOUT 3 COUGH

The player choice continues with well-written companions. Each companion comes with their own personal quest that will allow the player to permanently influence the companion and their skills.

Between a large assortment of different weapons that range from a little cruddy .357 revolver, to massive shoulder-mounted death-beam-laser-♥♥♥♥♥♥-uppers, player equipment from shoddily crafted leather armour to military power armour, and more perks than you could ever pick further strengthen the replay value just to play different playstyles. Your character isn't magically good at everything... COUGH SKYRIM COUGH

The game's atmosphere is unrivaled. When you are exploring the desolate desert, while some shrieking scary piano track plays, or when you are walking through some old abandoned bunkers while listening to some absolute bangers on the radio, it's just beautiful.

The DLC are also supreme, each one taking you to a whole new world of content.

-Honest Hearts lets you explore the serene Grand Canyon while fighting off mutated bears and aboriginals.

-Old World Blues is a funny science-fiction-y comedy, with wacky gadgets and even wackier crazy scientist characters.

-Dead Money is a miserable survival-horror experience and an important lesson about letting go.

-Lonesome Road is the crowning finale of any playthrough, where you face immense
challenges and your own past.

Fallout: New Vegas is the grandest western RPG ever made, and I will defend that opinion to the death.

Beyond the supreme RPG aspects, the game is however not without its flaws, sadly.
The game has aged very poorly. Many graphics look like filthy puke-pastelle and the gameplay itself is not very stand-out. It never feels like you're holding a gun, instead you are pointing a static object at baddies that will eventually keel over and die from long-term exposure to left clicks. The game is also immensely buggy and very prone to crashing.
All of what I mentioned above though, can be fixed with a quick trip to the modding Nexus.

Should you not know your way around mods, feel free to add me to your friend list, I will personally walk you through the process. That is how much I care about this game.

If you're into role-playing, this game is for you. Period. 10/10 Best game ever made.
