Rain World is one of the best games I've ever played.
Such an enthralling and wonderous game, it's simply incredible what this game offers.

Rain World is a survival exploration game set in a ruined world, overgrown and taken back by nature. There are many beautiful and fantastical sights to behold, but danger that lingers in the wake of it.

You play as a creature known as the Slugcat, a nimble and agile thing with a knack for curiousity and traversing pipes. Cast into an unknown world you must do what you can to survive, but also get a feel for your surrondings. Theres a problem with this though.

Even though there are creatures you can eat, you may consider yourself a hunter perhaps, you are anything but. You are prey, just like everything else in this world. Things can, and will eat you, much as you do the same. You may try to fight back, but until you experiment and learn, you will not do much of anything.

It's not all bad though, as you are accompanied by a yellow companion giving you hints and directions. If you follow his guidance, surely you'll live another day.

The predators aren't the only thing to get you though, as even though the fauna is hostile, the flora and even the weather itself is too. Not after long, rain will drop from the sky, picking up, getting stronger, raining harder, faster, until the once harmless water droplets are enough to eviscerate you like bullets, or drown you underground. There are shelters to avoid this fate, but hibernation requires food. Hibernating will take you to the next cycle, and boost a weird symbol on the left.

This game is less of a game, and more of an ecosystem. Creatures are still rendered and simulated even off screen, and will have routines and personalities. Certain creatures can respect and fear you, and others can feel much wider arrays of emotions. This isn't just mumbo-jumbo talk either, the system in place allows for many options you never would think possible. The AI has been researched and talked about repeatedly, and I would highly recommend looking into its inner-workings.

The movement in this game is also insane. I would love to go over it here, but I reckon it's better to learn from playing the game and experimenting with its movement, or reading the 70 page google doc.

I leave the review here, even though it might not talk heaps about the game, that's mostly because this game is best experienced (mostly) blind. If the game looks interesting to you and the price tag looks fine enough, by all means GO FOR IT. I'm glad I got to experience this game.

There are some things which are annoying to figure out, so heres a few hints if you're needing them.

The weird symbols when hibernating is Karma, you use it to go through different regions.
Try heading right rather than left, even your yellow buddy points this way.
Fruits can be preserved if taken into a shelter.
Hold grab while holding an inedible object for something to happen.
Double tap grab to swap hand, and throwing always throws from the right hand.
Rocks always stun, so use that.

Oh also this game is HARD AS ♥♥♥♥
