No really, this is probably the best galactic sandbox on Steam right now.

Unfortunately I can't recommend the game any more. When Odyssey released in 2021 and messed up a lot of stuff, I put up with it. Even after a few optimization updates my PC can still barely run the ground content.

And now comes the news that the game is becoming Pay to Win, with early access to the new ship and paying IRL cash for other fully outfitted ships. Just a year or two ago this idea would always be universally shouted down when brought up on community forums, but now the shills have come out of the woodwork to defend the practice.

Strangely enough, this shift in the community happened just after the console versions got put into life support mode and the players got a free PC copy. It seems they've all been brainwashed into thinking P2W is an acceptable practice by Microsoft and other "AAA" game companies.

Also with the recent revelations that Frontier evaluates and dehumanizes their employees with the Bradford Factor ( https://videogames.si.com/news/frontier-layoffs-mismanagement ) I can no longer support the company as a whole, let alone just the game.

Edit #2: And now a week later word has come out that they've increase the price of most(if not all) cosmetic items by 2x. They did this with absolutely no heads up or communication with the community. What the hell?

Where is David Braben during all this? Elite has been his baby since 1984. I refuse to believe he's okay with all the corporate mistreatment his game and the company he founded is getting. If today me went back in time to 2016 and told past me that the developers of No Man's Sky respects their customers more than Frontier, past me would've laughed in my face.
