Started playing in 2008, still playing. Good game to play while watching movies or series. You level up and unlock new gear, new quest, new monsters, new boss and much more. Takes a lot of time but it is rewarding. Ignore the microtransactions if you don't care about ranks or what other people do. If you do care then the MTX may be a big downside to the game.

Questing is a lot better than other MMO. They have actual stories and puzzle in them, Majority of them are not just fetch quest. You unlock quest by levelling your skills, and then when you do the quest you unlocks new gear/monster/etc.. and even more quests.

Skilling is where you level up your 20+ skills, most of them can be trained with minimum attention, so you can watch something or do something else while grinding for those levels, which makes it a good 2nd screen game. Although you can do other methods of levelling up where you need more attention and doing so rewards you with more xp / better loot.

PVM is best later on in the game, with plenty of solo bosses and groups bosses. Some are pretty easy and other need lots of practice and good gear / levels, which you will need to grind for a while to get.

If you are new / returning I highly encourage you to watch Youtube videos about the game (tutorials and guides) and look up the Runescape Wiki (Quest guides). There are plenty of videos suggesting early game goals to work towards. That will help you starting the game since the game is old and it has a lot of content, it can be hard to figure out what to do when starting the game. Also the interface has so many options in it that it can be confusing at first, so watching a YouTube tutorial on the interface could help a lot.
