Starting with the plus side - this game has some seriously satisfying gunplay, weapons feel great overall, sniper rifles are beefy and being able to penetrate a lot of surfaces leads to incredibly satisfying moments.

Unfortunately, the overall experience is crippled by some mind-bogglingly weird decisions in the balance area and key gameplay mechanics.

This leads to almost all of the PvP game modes practically unplayable, and developer's response to low numbers in bad modes - is to turn off the good ones. Why improve a product when you can force people to play it, right?

Just to name a few massively frustrating issues:

  • The experience system is pretty much a joke, rewarding you 95% for playtime and only 5% for your actions. Your skill doesn't matter here, you'll get almost as much xp as if you'd hide in the corner for the whole game.

  • Respawn mechanic leaves a lot to be desired - you can spawn either on a respawn wave, or on your team's point capture, which creates incredibly unbalanced moments. Almost never you'll be able to clutch your way back from a 1v2 even, because one of your opponents will cap an empty point and respawn the whole team.

  • Map design looks deliberate at first, but the more you play it - the more it starts to feel like it's just clutter thrown onto it with no real thought process or attempts to create a meaningful engagement. A lot of map sections have random dead-ends with no real ideas behind them.

  • Map limits are atrocious. They are placed in the worst possible spots, it seems, and are not adapted between game modes properly. One map in rush game mode has a border going literally through the center of a capture point.

  • Crossing a map limit will not show a timer - it'll prevent you from attacking your enemies in any way. If the point is captured, the map limit changes momentarily, which can leave you stranded on an enemy territory with no way to defend yourself, basically punishing you for trying to defend a point.

  • Timings of reaching an objective can actually differ between factions, and coupled with respawn mechancs - makes some maps incredibly one-sided in certain game modes.

In the end, the game leaves you asking "Why would they design it like this?" in regards to most of the basic features available to the player.
