Edit: As of December 2016 the crashes are gone but FPS issues due to not having top quality hardware & a slightly poor port are still an issue.

So I'm about 18 hours into the game, mucking my way through the catacombs, and I think I've experienced almost enough to give at least somewhat of an informed review. If at the time that I finish my opinions change, I'll update this review!

But anyway...

This game is fantastic. I never got a chance to play DS2 and didn't get much into DS1 at the time because the extreme difficulty was a turn-off, and on top of that I didn't really have any friends who were playing it.

Fast forward to now, with the Dark Souls 3 release, I finally understand why this game is so great, and the update in graphics and customization is even better. From the get-go you can customize your character right down to the size of their cheekbones and build of their body. Once you've made it through that (if you're like me, you probably messed with it for about an hour), then you're thrust into the game with some dazzling cutscenes to watch.

Right away the somber darkness of the world is surrounding you, choking you. It absolutely seethes with this depressing, brooding tone. You hack and slash your way through some relatively easy zombie type characters and then there he is, the first boss. It took me about three or four tries before I figured out how to play Dark Souls properly.

Then I discovered Fire Link shrine and learned that I'd have a growing home within the game that I could return to like some sort of hub, that was another plus in my book, because I like safezone type areas (see The Division, or housing in MMOs like Black Desert Online).

The music is nice, the ease of co-op is awesome, and the invading players is pretty cool, especially since I'm able to kill them 90% of the time! Although I totally fail at invading others myself, so far.

The bosses are challenging and sometimes totally gigantic and when you make your way through a difficult section and win, there's a real feeling of accomplishment there, and I think that's one of the more addictive parts of Dark Souls.

But there are issues, and apparently these are issues that have plagued all 3 games so far, with FromSoft either ignoring them or maybe not knowing how to fix them? In the time that I've played, I've experienced a few random crashes to desktop without any error messages and until I tweaked the game and cleaned up some things, I would get kicked back to the main menu mid-gameplay over some FPS issues (even though the game feels as though I'm running a solid 25-30 FPS nonstop no matter what graphic quality settings I use).

For the love of the goddess of blood, please remove the FPS kickback!

FYI, I'm running quadcore AMD FX, a Radeon r7 250 (2 gigs) and I've got 8 gigs of ram (ddr3). Now this hardware is about midrange and I can play GTA: Online, Black Desert Online and The Division with relative ease and no serious framerate drops. But sometimes, in DS3, I get that extremely aggravating kickback to the main menu and I'm grinding my teeth here. There is definitely an issue with optimization, as is the case with console ports sometimes. As I've heard this problem usually isn't ever addressed in the previous games, I'm hoping FromSoft changes their tune this time and tweaks the optimization.

Aside from that though, this game is absolutely worth your time, especially if you're an RPG fan. There's plenty to do, plenty to discover and lots of mystery about it. Just beware that there are some unfortunate optimization problems that may or may not be addressed in the future.

That out of the way, need help with a boss? Add me and I'll come slice things.

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1

Pros:
  • Turn based RPG! I love turn based RPGs, they always take me back to a time in my teen years where I'd be home from school spending literally all day just grinding away in a game like Final Fantasy
  • Really cute - This game is like the epitome of cute, and the play on game industry stereotypes is kind of funny.
  • Your own pace - Neptunia doesn't force you to advance at the pace that it wants you to, you can grind for hours in a dungeon, or chance going at everything without caution (although you'll likely die).
  • Music - the music also reminds me of older turn based RPGs, and that's a plus on my list.
  • Guilds, shops, crafting - These are standard for RPGs, and although requiring a slight learning curve, the crafting is pretty neato. Shops are useful for acquiring and selling things and guilds give out sidequests that offer plenty of extra goals to achieve.
  • Ladies! This game is almost entirely made up of women, which is cool on a social standpoint, but was also probably done for other reasons I'll go over in the cons list.
  • Challenging bossfights - In too many games nowadays, boss fights (in games that actually have bosses) aren't that hard anymore, but if you run blindly into combat and try to fight some random boss, you've got a chance of failing miserably.
  • You don't have to interact with the toxic fanbase mostly populated by forever alone dudebros.

Cons
  • This game was reviewed by that Waifu Hunter person, and usually that means there's some kind of pedo/horny dude aspect to this game, and after playing, there definitly is. Sexual exploitation (i.e. fanservice) is constant in this game. From tiny outfits to random panty shots on characters that don't look older than 16 (unless they're morfed into their adult looking true form).
  • The fact that most of you're out-of-combat, out-of-dungeon gameplay is like moving a piece around on a board game is kind of meh sometimes, I like having the ability to feel like I'm actually traveling.
  • It does get kind of repetitive sometimes, which is why this game is better for a rainy day sort of situation when you're not feeling motivated to do much else.

Overall, I'd recommend this game! I have the sequel as well but haven't gotten around to playing it yet. It should go without saying though, that with cutesy anime games that have lots of women, or teenage looking girls, the fanbase is littered with dudes who've never heard of porntube.

A fun experience if you're feeling nostalgic about older turn based rpg games.

Stand Alone Complex

It should go without saying, but Ghost in the Shell is the only anime I ever cared about.

Alright so, I have about 10 hours on this game. That might seem low, but as it stands right now, I think that's all it really takes to get an impression of the game (until much more content is added).

Pros:
  • Playable female characters - I cannot stress how important this is in games, especially in FPS games where most devs assume guys are the only ones playing
  • Fast paced combat - The combat in this game, whether you're in TDM or some other variation has perfect pacing, and you can actually see where your enemies are, unlike Black Ops 3 where you need to have 20/20 vision and alien reflexes to even spot who you're shooting at (in relation to hardcore TDM)
  • Beautiful graphics - For a GITS centered game, I love the graphics. I haven't played anything with Kusanagi in it since that one game on the original Playstation.
  • Cool music - The music is cool and it gets you pumped
  • Daily rewards - Rewards for logging in are always nice to get
  • Leveling system - FPS games that incorporate psuedo RPG elements get a plus one from me cause I like the feeling of advancement
  • The community - Unlike a lot of (okay, most of) other multiplayer games, the community here doesn't actually suck all that much. Meaning, I haven't witnessed very many angry manbabies.

Cons:
  • As this is in early access, there really isn't much content. There needs to be way more skins, more weapons, lots more mods and especially more varied maps.
  • Sometimes the music overlaps in a lobby and it's still playing when I drop into a game?
  • Hitboxes need fixing. I've unloaded entire clips with my crosshairs directly on top of someone and hit nothing but air.
  • Sniper rifles need to be toned down cause as it stands they're ridiculously powerful and the preferred weapon for people who like things easy-peasy
  • FPS stuttering. The gameplay is usually pretty smooth, but sometimes my FPS will drop in the middle of combat, usually resulting in my death.
  • The daily rewards sometimes don't register and it either restarts or doesn't give you anything at all.
  • Acquiring money to buy things is skewed. Daily rewards will sometimes give you like 500gp? And that's not even enough to buy anything. It's like recieving a penny in relation to the prices.
  • This goes with the previous, leveling in its current state is painfully slow, and you get the most money from leveling up. So expect large breaks where you're totally flat broke.
  • I haven't witnessed very many hackers, but I've still come across one or two losers who don't know how to play games. I'll chalk that up to anonalies sometimes slipping through the cracks of an otherwise pretty secure system, because, really, unskilled people are in every competitive game there is, and someone is always going to try to gain an unfair advantage.

Overall, even though this is in early access and it doesn't really have the content to justify a large sum of money, that's okay! Because you can grab this game for a measly 5 dollars, which I do think is completely justifiable in its current state. I recommend FIrst Assault, there's almost no reason you shouldn't have this game unless you hate GITS and FPS games.

So, Black Ops 3. First of all, I haven't played one of these since Modern Warfare 2, that aside...

Singeplayer: The campaign is your basic COD premise, except with next-gen graphics. It's pretty and it's at least entertaining, even if extremely linear. Nowadays I'm used to RPGs and open-world games so a linear FPS feels kind of dated? Regardless, this is fine, and pretty much what I expected.

Zombies: Also your typical COD zombie mode, not a whole lot that's different (from what I can tell) here and it can be fun.

Competitive Multiplayer: This is where I might have trouble recommending this game, because with all of the people online on a daily basis, even during peak hours, the only mode anyone seems to be playing is Hardcore Team Deathmatch. This would be fine, if it were easier to see your enemies, and if nearly everyone wasn't sitting in corners, behind trucks, or through a window with a sniper rifle a mile away.

Even with nearly inhuman reaction time, it's proven difficult for me to get into this, because I'm used to fast-paced FPS multiplayer where camping is penalized and discouraged (Battlefield).

One of the things I actually really like about this game, though, is that you aren't forced into playing a default dudebro character. You can play a woman in both singleplayer and multiplayer, which is refreshing, considering how people react sometimes when I'm talking about this (hint: they react like manchild pissbabies).

Would I recommend this game? I guess so

Okay, so, when I originally reviewed this game with my one-liner "THE ONLY GAME YOU EVER NEED TO PLAY!" this was back when the game had just recently started early access and there was very little content, and even then it was amazing. I last played a year ago, at least that was until now and I don't even feel like I can give this game a fair review yet because I feel like a noob all over again (even with over 200 hours).

That's how much new content has been introduced.

Ship upgrades, a variety of quests, pets, a ship AI, new weapons, crafting tables, vehicles, a hub where you can do all of your commerce and quest pickups...

I'd say if you like space trading games, terraria and minecraft this is the game for you.

The bad reviews I see don't really make sense, but really, the game community is filled with dudebros and that pretty much explains it.

Pros:

-You can choose a gender and a race. I frikken hate games that force you into being a default scruffy chin dude.
-More features than you can shake a stick at
-Extremely deep crafting
-Amazing soundtrack
-Beautiful design
-Limitless open world
-Space
-Expansive modding community
-Monthly updates

Cons:
-I can't fish
-I hear there still isn't much to do once you've reached the top armor tier (But I will judge for myself sometime soon)
-I can't play 24/7

I guess I'll probably update this again once I've got 400 hours under my belt, who knows? The game is worth playing, the only reason I went a year without touching it is because I had other things going on that distracted me. Chucklefish is kicking ass regardless whatever stage the game is in.

Finally, the franchise I've been following for almost two decades has a game I can play on my PC! (well, Metal Gear: Solid was on PC, and MGS2 apparently was, but I missed that release somehow) And even better, it has infinite replayability, achievements, trading cards and online play!

But really, of all the games I've played throughout the years, the Metal Gear series is probably one of the most important in my history of gaming, however important that may be. I don't know. What is life?

minor spoilers ahead

Pros:

-The story: At first, and throughout a lot of the game, the story felt sort of disjointed, and I think the open-world play and the pace at which I completed things made certain segments feel far and between, but by the time I made it to the second chapter, and the ever-powerful and gutwrenching quarantine sequence, my opinion changed drastically. And then I unlocked the "truth" ending... Storywise, this is one of the best. But then, I loved all of the Metal Gear stories

Building Outer Heaven, and reading/listening to the tie-ins to the very first incarnations of Metal Gear (nope, it wasn't Metal Gear: Solid) was really satisfying. Two words: Operation Intrude.

-Open world: Open world games are one of my favorite things nowadays. They allow for a lot of freedom, a lot of ways that you can complete your objectives and MGS5 definitely does not fall short in this aspect.

-Voice acting: The voice acting is absolutely superb, and although I was bummed about the whole lack of David Hayter, his replacement did a damn fine job, regardless. (plus, I'm a fan of the show 24)

-Soundtrack: Musically, this game is completely different than the previous games. The original theme is gone, the action and alert sequences have machinegun electronic drum machines and cinematic explosions of bass. You know, that stuff you hear in movies when they're trying to emphasize epicness or whatever. And then there's all the eighties songs you can collect and even set as your helicopter's main theme. I am really partial to The Man Who Sold the World and How About Them Zombies, Ey?

-Graphics: I thought Fallout 4 looked nice, but MGS5 looks amazing. There were times when I felt like I was looking at something photorealistic. Like the inside of your helicopter for example.

-Sneaking/AI: In this respect, MGS5 has everything the previous games do, but it's done even better and smarter. The AI compensates and learns, it knows how you play and it will adjust in order to stop you. It also leaves many possibilties for scary or even funny things to happen. For example, I was about to be spotted at one point in the game, but didn't realize it fast enough. So Quiet, being the great buddy that she is, shot this guy in the head, who flung right by me around a corner.

Thanks Quiet.

Usually, you have to tell your buddies to do things, although with companions like Quiet, if she sees that you're in trouble, she will take action whether you tell her to or not.

-Features/Missions: Aside from the main missions, there are tons and tons of side operations that also eventually become repeatable (and the main missions are always repeatable). You can basically craft a Matrix sized arsenal of weapons, armor and gadgets, customize your weapons with different attachments and paint, mod out your helicopter, that Jeep you found, your horse, your dog, Quiet... There's online play, where you can invade rival player bases and steal their stuff (I almost always win), Nuke development, World of Warcraft style "deploy" missions for you to send your soldiers on in order to collect goodies and a whole bunch of other things I'm probably missing in my tired eyed state.

Cons:

-The story: Yes, this is also in my pros, but I'll explain why it's also in my cons. The fact that it felt disjointed at times could have been fixed, it could've been done better in order to alleviate that. Being as big a fan of the MGS series that I am, I'm used to convoluted and weird plotlines, but being their first open world game, I think this is also where they faltered a little.

-Misogyny and 2015/2016: I get it. The Metal Gear series has always simultaneously uplifited strong female characters, while objectifying them (most of the time). You saw this in Metal Gear: Solid when Meryl was nearly naked and Snake barges into the women's room, with the pornography in MGS:2, Eva in Snake Eater, or to be more recent, Quiet in MGS5.

I love Quiet as a character. She's compelling, complicated and so on and so forth. But her treatment by the developers is almost cringeworthy at times.

I'm being a bit more gentle in this respect with MGS because it is such an important series to me, but, like with the rest of the games I play, I have to mention it. To highlight it and acknowledge that it's there.

I wish I wouldn't have to mention these types of things anymore, but here we are.

-MGO: Simply put, I want access to MGO and I don't have access to it yet!

Overall, I recommend this game. There is no reason not to play it.

This is one of those nostalgia inducers from the early 00's, a playstation 2 title that was tippy top technology at the time. In my own opinion, the original Bloodrayne is a few notches better than it's sequel, with straight-forward bloodsucking, hilarious hack-and-slash gore, nazi killing and scattered vagina imagery (for whatever reason).

If the graphics aren't a problem, I recommend this for fans of vampires and linear slice em and shoot em up games. Because, afterall, there are very few decent vampire games. Hell, there aren't that many to begin with.

Seriously though, this is a pretty decent arcade fighter. If you can get past the super sexualization of the characters and the weeb waifu hunters crying about censored panties, you'll probably love this game. Heck what am I saying, the crying is funny. It's really funny.

Pros:

-Super easy keyboard shortcuts if you don't have one of them fangled pc controller thangers
-The characters are mostly women, rather than buff_default_guy.exe
-Matchmaking/online play
-Artwork galleries, achievements and trading cards to collect
-Totally cool soundtrack
-Keeps your heart in good health

Cons:

-Weaboos for days complaining about a few censored pixels that make it slightly harder to see a pair of panties on their cartoon fighter lady
-I can only play games like this for short periods of time before my hands are broken
-A larger variety of characters that I don't have to pay to unlock would be nice

Oh my god, this game. I want to write a big review and I'm going to try, but I am exhausted after playing for sixteen hours! (It's that good).

So, I'll get my PC out of the way. I've had this computer since 2014, everything is up to spec with the Fallout 4 requirements besides my Radion 5800. Despite the fact that I've only got a gig in my video ram, it still runs well and I've got 16 hours wasteland exploration down.

I would detail my experience but don't want to spoil much for those who haven't played yet.

Pros:

-Game is beautiful. I don't understand these people saying it looks outdated. It looks amazing! What even are your standards?
-Lots of nice music, including my favorite songs from Fallout 3, and, because of that, in a way, it sort of feels like I'm playing an extremely beefy and updated Fallout 3.
-Building settlements. This is one of my favorite features so far. When I got into the initial town I was trying to think of where to put my home, so I put up some armored walls right in front of my pre-war home, because why not? I haven't even begun to build in other settelments because I've barely started in my first.
-Vats and gore. One of my favorite bits of the Fallout series is hitting the VATS button and watching my bullets shred someone's face off. And yes, there is absolutely plenty of that in Fallout 4 (including a critical strike trigger button).
-Weapon and armor customization. This is not something I've really seen in any other games very often, and it is probably one of my other favorite features. From slapping on different pieces of armor, to modding out all of my weapons and giving them funny names. "The Killer," "The Puncher 5000."
-Quests, lots of quests. If exploring the wastelands, building settlements and talking to your dog wasn't enough, there are literally buttloads of quests. I ran into a spot where one of my quests broke and thought I'd take a break after spending 30 minutes trying to beat it. When I exited the game a patch downloaded, so I jumped back in and it was fixed. Amazing developer support.
-Literally everything you pick up can be used for something, and I'm constantly running out of inventory space. But that's okay, because I hated picking up worthless crap before in the other games.
-Voices. My character has a voice, and she speaks all of the time. This makes such a world of difference rather than the tired/played out silent protagonist.
-It is challenging! Even on the default setting I've been in spots where I'm sweating and trying to strategize how I'm not going to die.
-Lots of radio signals. Every so often I'll be walking around and I'll pick up some random distress signal, I'll listen in and usually help them out (although super mutants are a gigantic pain in the ass at the moment).
-Stealth is viable! There is a big difference between stealth in F4 than there was in Vegas and F3. One of my favorite things to do now is sit in a building and shoot people in the head, or sneak around their ankles and then hit them in the face with my barbed wire baseball bat, and then their buddies have no idea wtf happened.
-A dog. You get a dog as a companion! I haven't really met any other companions I've wanted yet (mostly because I'm waiting for a female companion to join me), but having a dog seems different somehow. He's short, so you can spray your bullets and he won't walk into them. It's possible I just like having a dog more at the moment because the other companions weren't that interesting to me. Whatever it may be, the ability to tame animals is another great addition.
-Sprinting. This is super helpful, I shouldn't even have to say why.
-The story. I actually feel engaged in the story this time around. I mean, I felt somewhat engaged in Fallout 3, was never really taken by Vegas and now in Fallout 4 I'm actually really interested in what's going on outside of my random exploration, settelment buildings and face exploding.
-Character creation. One of the biggest things that sells a game for me is indepth and freedom of character customization. Not only can you customize your own, but you can customize your spouse! If only lesser suvival type games had features like that *cough*RUST*cough*

Cons:

-I got too exhausted to play any more
-The previous con being a joke, I would say my one real con is that sometimes things don't seem too clear to me, like setting electrical wires correctly, how, if or when I meet more companions that are actually appealing to me.

That's it, I really don't have much bad to say about this game, because I'm fairly certain this is one of the best games to have ever been released in gaming history. That's not fangirling or anything either, this game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing.

So, I bought this game on May 30th, 2012, originally on EA's Origin platform. I had the CE, an early start and a founder package. You know, the works. I enjoyed what I saw at the time but due to my easily influenced brain, my friends at the time pulled me right back to World of Crack. It wasn't until just now, today, November, 8th, 2015 that I remembered I had all of that. And so, our journey begins.

Upon logging in, my original character is still there waiting for me in some valley but I figure after so much time and likely tons and tons of changes, I may as well make a new character. So I whip up an Archer. This review is widely based on Archer gameplay (for 12 hours), but will include some other comments.

Pros:

-Action oriented gamplay: There are very few MMOs that get this right. TERA is one of them. The movement is fluid, just like you'd expect from a decent MMO and the combinations of things are just super duper fun. As an archer I find myself bouncing around quite frequently, a far-cry from standing in one place and mashing one button.

-BEAUTIFUL graphics. I can't even begin to describe how nice this game looks. Just loading up the character creator and the details on the character faces is mind blowing. Then you log in and everything is just super pretty. It is a pleasure to wander around in.

-TERA is -actually- free to play. It's not pay to win, you can't just toss money at your character and kill everything with a button. Most of what's available on the cash shop is also available to players for gold, and nothing in the cash shop is an easy-win button. (which is great, because I'm on PVP server)

-PVP! World PVP! I'm experiencing right now in TERA what I remember experiencing in my first moments of World of Warcraft and my leveling experience on a PVP server: paranoia. This may not be for everyone, but being on the edge of my seat while I'm leveling up and grabbing new gear is one of the best ways to not fall asleep.

-Tons and tons and tons and tons of cosmetic options and superb character customization. Of course, you can make a funny looking character, but most of the time you can come out with something to your liking.

-The variety of sounds that nofify you of accomplished goals are nice, they're not annoying. There's even a fairy side-kick thing that tells you when you have mail.

-Achievements, for the obsessive.

-Absolutely no shortage of quests to do

-Very little restriction on crafting, because who doesn't love crafting?

-Pets you can collect

-Dungeons (haven't seen them yet, but I'm assuming they're at least a little fun with a good group)

Cons:

-Elin. I have to mention this because it's the glaring, obvious thing to mention. I have an Elin myself, she's a cute little sorcerer that blows things to pieces and kills everything with fire, but judging by a lot of steam reviews and other people in TERA who happen to be playing Elin, some of them (I really don't want to say most) seem to be the waifu pedophile crowd. So it is definitely a con for me to be forming a group and wondering which one of my party members is a sexual predator.

-The community (the vocal part that you see speaking in chat channels). This is almost always a con in just about any online game that allows people to speak to each other publicly. It is your typical out-of-touch with reality manchild fare who think Donald Trump is a legitimate choice for the 2016 presidential elect and have such a weak grasp on social issues you wonder how they go outside and make friends.

-Quest variety. Although there are many, many quests to do, there needs to be more variety, and this is kind of a small con because it doesn't really bother me all that much. I come from a long line of MMOs in my history, starting with Anarchy Online. A game in which you spent nearly all of your time just sitting around in the wilds killing mobs for loot and experience and no written goal telling you where to go. Not a huge con for me, but likely a bigger con for others.

-Armor variety. So far, from level 1 to 21 on my Archer, almost all of the armor is the same exact texture with a different color filter placed over it. I hope it starts to look cooler at some point.

Overall, this is a great free to play MMO. I have spent a lot of time looking for one that can actually hold my attention and TERA is it. If you can look past these cons then definitely give it a go.
