this game slaps.
Another in a line of solid games set in unrelated universes that all share a tactical use for defenestration - this tops the previous ones in spectacular fashion.
It sets out to do its job and nails it perfectly.

Lots of optional challenges that the game doesn't shame you for skipping or nag you to accomplish, whip smart dialogue, simple but satisfying mechanics that lend well to a sort of "low skill floor, high skill ceiling" type play experience.

I recommend everything this dev's ever put out, but this above all.

this game had such great potential. it could have been exactly what i'd always been looking for but couldn't find in games like Elite: Dangerous, No Mans Sky, Rebel Galaxy, Star Citizen, even Starfield. It was the closest thing to the real deal we had ever seen. Something straight out of The Expanse, incredibly difficult to manage, a constant struggle to even stay oriented in the infinite space around you. it was beautiful and terrifying, and bugged to ♥♥♥♥. It's such a shame this project wasn't ever fully realized.

a 4-man co-op horde shooter, with cool maps and side objectives.

if you like the gameplay of l4d, darktide, wwz, back4blood, or deep rock galactic, you'll probably like this game too.

It's third person, which is a deviation from the above, but has the option for first person ADS.
game involves a pretty solid spread of mission types, and a new one has been added since I started playing last week, so it seems there will be some solid update longevity maybe.

currently the game is basically:
drop onto a planet and fight either
hordes of bugs (starship troopers mode)
or a bunch of robots that shoot at you (terminator mode)
on the way to complete an objective, with the option to clear side objectives on the way.
use a variety of firearms and neat stratagems like turrets, orbital bombardments and airstrikes to wipe out the foe and progress the mission.

game has a very satiric fascism vibe, as per starship troopers, and while there's not a single player campaign or a conventional story, the galactic map updates as the devs unroll their plans - and the missions you take part in chip away at long term goals (liberate a planet, activate genocide towers, repel invasion, etc).
Additionally, if you're not swarmed and up to your knees in bug juice, there's some solid environmental storytelling to be seen here and there.

I reckon you'll like it, so I recommend it.

for most 4-player co-op games, the key to having fun is having 3 other friends who also have the game.
not so for this one. playing in public games is grand, the community is staggeringly nice. And if you would still prefer to go it alone, you can do that just fine too. There's a whole section of mechanics specifically for just bein' a lonely dwarf. Give it a try.

The game is excellent.
Music, combat, exploration, customization, art direction, the works.
Definitely worth a try. You'll know if it's for you before 2 hours are up.

the best first person melee mechanics in any game I've ever played.

Build variety, class variety, weapon variety. Low skill floor, high skill ceiling.
Good difficulty options.
This is a good game with a satisfying gameplay loop.
