This is a review of NieR:Automata, not the PC port of it. We're all aware that the port isn't the greatest thing in world.

TL:DR Buy this game and play it, and when you think you've completed it, play it some more.

There is so much more to this game than at first glance. All the characters are unique enough to be remembered to some extent. The story is gripping and plays around with the human condition as its primary theme. The gameplay itself differs from chapter to chapter. It's an open world hack and slash mostly, but sometimes you'll be thrust into a bullet hell level or a short puzzle. One complaint would be a very extensive use of invisible walls simply where they don't have any place in being. The graphics are rather standard and unremarkable, but NieR:Automata makes up for this with its environment design and symbolic visuals. Voice acting is suprisingly well done in English, can't say anything about the Japanese voices though. The soundtrack is amazing. I can easily listen to it without the game there to distract me. Every area's track fits perfectly with the visuals to create a sense of immersion that will be difficult to break free from.

Overall, NieR:Automata is an outstanding title. Its complex and theme driven story mixed with solid gameplay and stunning visuals creates an experience that is near imposssible to match. This will be my favourite game for very long time.
