Such a great game. I wish it had a full blown Kiwami-style remake, but at the same time, I'm glad it doesn't.
There's a few points where I wish the game was a bit more clear on how to unlock certain things (ex. New finishing moves in boss fights - I played the whole campaign and didn't unlock a single extra. Perma-stuck w/ head bash).
Overall, phenomenal story, tons of twists and turns. Almost up there with Yakuza 0.
10/10, would cry over the ending chapters again.

I have a love-hate relationship with this game; It's one of the first games (in the 0 -> Kiwami 1 -> 2 play order) that majorly flipped the combat system on it's head. At first, it's kind of like a breath of fresh air. It's simplified, no more combat styles, one smooth fluid combat system that just works. As you progress in the game, you find that fights are both too easy and are super annoying. It seems as you rapidly approach the last quarter of the game, a lot of fights are there simply to serve as a way to lose health. Nothing more, nothing less. Looking at you "Man in Black" and random three dudes with an RPG and sliver of health in the final chapter :/

The boss fights are another thing that stood out to me as horrendous. In 0, they felt far more grand and elaborate. In 2 it just lost it's charm. Heat moves take out gigantic portions of the bosses health, to the point where some fights took me under a minute to complete, feeling like Kiryu's really is the strongest Yakuza to walk the earth (aside from the Man in Black who seemingly has no issue wiping out your health).

By far, this is the most beautiful and scenic game that I've played. Devs did some major overhauling on the physics engine, which is certainly debatable if that's a good thing or not (ragdoll physics are insane now). Regardless, it's lighting is beautiful with not much more leaving to be desired in terms of graphics. When I first loaded into Kamurocho, I was speechless. I'm still amazed at how this game looks.

With all that said, the story is fantastic with unexpected twists and turns, and even some bonus content featuring Majima. The Majima ep really yanked at the heart strings quite a bit, much more than I expected it to. I'm glad Ryu Ga Gotoku added this. One of the games really needed this and I'm glad this one had it. This game didn't cause me to spontaneously combust in tears like previous games, but it's still a great game in the franchise despite it's janky combat system. I look forward to replaying it sometime in the distant future.

this game is a gateway drug into the rest of the yakuza series. I put about 60 hours into it. Amazing story. Probably the best money someone can spend on a game.

a worthy successor to PAYDAY 2. Like every Overkill game, it needs time to mature. out of the box it's pretty damn good.

I picked up this game through Humble Bundle - would highly recommend.
This game brought back some memories. I hope they make a House of the Dead 2 remake!

Pretty addicting game - You learn tons of little tricks to speed up the tedious tasks as you keep playing (ex. switching from manually mixing cement/mortar to auto mixing | leveling up skills!). If you have some time to kill after work, or are in between playing AAA games, this is a super nice game to chill out and play along to.
I would love to see a bit more interior design/fixing tasks in the contract mode just because some houses can take an hour or three!
One last note for the devs - Occasionally I found myself wandering around the houses for quite a while (3-10 minutes) trying to find the last tile needed to finish up on $THING, it would be great if there was a minimap showing where the missing $THING is.
Other than that, awesome work :)

For an early access title, this is incredibly well polished. Super fun to play, holds up well when you compare it to the original game :)
Awesome work from the developer. 10/10 would recommend to anyone. My only complaint is 1080p max settings is super intensive. I wouldn't expect a 3090 to struggle to push 120+ FPS.

Incredibly solid game. Graphics are beautiful, jiggle physics are on point. Story is a little here and there, but combat is on point. Would recommend. If you liked Shadow Warrior, you'll like Bright Memory: Infinite :D
