Words uttered while playing Pacific Drive so far (like maybe 30% done):
"I keep hearing sounds and I don't like them"
"We are not going to drive into the explosive tourist to charge the car battery"
"Does that thing heal me or eat my lungs"

This game's great.

Hoo boy, the devs of this game are messing up as hard as possible as fast as possible. Game gets harder to play without a credit card swipe after each update, huh.

Nice they fixed it it's fun again
Some of these missions are pretty hilarious and there's a load of polish and stuff to do that wasn't there before

One of the most fun, technically competent, pretty, and well-designed fighting games ever.

Also, the game smells great.

Yeah, this one deserves a review. I'm hooked. It's far from a flawless game - hell, even the end credits -say- so in the first few lines - but it's a lovely take on the Ace Combat formula that does enough interesting things to be more than just a Shattered Skies clone.

It feels like an Ace Combat game made by really passionate Redditors. There's pros and cons to that.

+Gameplay's top notch. Flight mechanics feel good, heavy aircraft feel heavy. Hunting down vast mobs of enemies feels good. It caters more towards raw enemy volume than gimmick missions/boss battles, which isn't necessarily a bad thing (see: ACZ.) They know their stuff, and it's dialed in.

+Soundtrack's a banger. One person made it. Hot damn.

+There's a lot of voice lines. Some of the banter's funny.
-There's a LOT of voice lines. A lot isn't funny.

-Boasts an excellently crafted world marred by a less-than-stellar storyline. No spoilers, again, but the final antagonist's actions and MO are just... ehh? A plot hole about the size of some of the bombs they drop.

+The Mercenary difficulty (this game's equivalent of Aces difficulty/new game plus) does enough unexpected and hilariously cool things to be well worth a second playthrough. No spoilers. It's wild. It made me laugh.

~It's got this thing called Conquest Mode, which is like a roguelike mini-campaign that acts as a modestly more elaborate survival run. Cool for a few extra side-games, and has a few fun quirks, but can get repetitive. Needs more mission variety or random events to me, but your mileage may vary.

8/10. If you like Ace Combat you'll like this.

Too buggy to be enjoyable. Control problems. Crashing issues. The 'fix' is to bring the game down to a 30fps lock, apparently, but... egh. That's unacceptable in a title from 2019.

The Crash remasters are the way to go for your PS1 nostalgia bender - at least on the PC.

Legitimately the greatest game I've ever played. A slow start to get you familiarized with the control setup leads into some of the most gasp-inducing setpieces and incredible combat I've ever seen. I spent the last fifth of my first playthrough laughing with incredulity every five seconds or so: I'd ended the game off with hand tremors and a gigantic smile on my face.

Go buy a VR headset. Food's less important.

Psychotic AI. There's no defense against an AI car that can erratically swerve across 4 lanes at light speed and make you lose time regardless of where any contact occurs. Stick with OutRun.
