Others have said it better than myself, so I'll just add my voice to everyone saying that this game is something special, even to someone who's as jaded with the industry as myself. If you enjoy exploration and want to go on an adventure then this game is for you.

I will mention that I found the controls to be a bit clunky for the first 10 minutes, which actually put me off continuing for a few months... which turned out to be silly on my part since it wasn't an issue again after that point. Oops

If you're pondering over the DLC then know that the game feels complete without it, but the experience is further bolstered by its inclusion. It slots in well enough that you don't need to worry about when to start it, if the itch strikes then just dive in .

The previous title was good, but never hooked me; this title very much has
In a way that even the previous game didn't managed it feels like a game with razor focus on what it wants to be:

Very fluid combat with a good amount of depth
Weapon upgrades each feels like it has a place and a reason to exist... something that I didn't find in the last game
Movement feels great
Excellent sound and music (although you already knew that)
The world is delightfully gory, colourful and silly

If I had to complain then maybe the levels are slightly too long, although this feeling is fading as I get increasingly used to the combat - finding it less mentally draining

If you enjoyed the base game then this is exactly what you're after:

More monsters, with better variation between similar ones
New weapons
New weapon systems
New locales
..Slightly better story... but to be fair the story wasn't really a strength in the base game either
Massively better Gathering Hub

To me it was and still is a no-brainer

If you didn't enjoy the base game then this is unlikely to be the thing that tips you into loving it.

I was finally persuaded to try this game after a glowing review by a youtuber known as Mandalore Gaming; having played through the game I am very glad that I did. This games blend of XCom, Darkest Dungeons and 40k turned out to be right above my alley.

A good game overall, with the two highlights of the game being the feel of the game - it nails the tone of 40K near perfectly and the music; future gothic grim space war has never sounded so good.

If you're feeling some 40K then this is one of the games that should scratch that itch very nicely.

I would struggle to say which setting I prefer: the Unterzee or the voids of Skies, but Skies does bring
+better UI
+much better combat
+a bit more direction at the start, which I imagine would be helpful to new players

For better and for worse it's still a slow game, so do take that into account
There's still a fair amount of reading; it's good stuff, but another thing to be aware of

-At the time of writing you can't honk your horn, like you can in Sunless Seas; one hopes that perhaps T for Toot will be added later.

A strong recommend for those that enjoyed Sunless Seas and those who enjoy atmospheric games

Large world. Fascianting lore. Intriguing characters.
Playing like one remembers Baldur's Gate playing... rather than how they really plays, this is a solid isometric RPG that deserves your time and attention.

Just a slight warning: this game was crowd funded and as such there's a lot of grave markers/spirits that you can interact with that slightly draw you out of the immersion. Read a few, appreciate the monetary sacrifice of those involved and then grab a sword/spell and get back to being a Watcher.

The quality of the writing and voice acting combined with the novelty of the concept makes this a must-buy for anyone who has any sort of an interest in unusual games.

Just be sure to activate the achievements from the menu. They should give you a good chuckle.
