this game is. i do not recommend it for new players. if you were an older player and want to get back into it and have a friend or someone else to play with sure. but i cannot recommend this game to new players, they advertise F2P but its about as pay to play as it gets. it is a massive time sink requiring dozens of hours to even hit the ground at a walking pace for a snail in a storm. the developers do NOT care about you. the story and lore tends to be really good and intricate but this is not the move if you are a new player. it is really hard and confusing to get into to start with because half of the games early content is no longer available whatsoever, the lore is deep and intricate and often isnt immediately understood and also is not accessible without having done the activities the lore books correspond with and often require youtube videos or other friends understanding/having and relaying the info to you. i personally offer to teach new people things where i can and when i can on account of this but i only see so many people. here is the warning i gave to my friend group who doesnt play;

"like sure you can download the game onto your computer for free but like. 95% of the activities worth doing are p2p. i take people talking about starting destiny seriously as ♥♥♥♥ because like if you do not know with a high degree of certainty if you really want to play it, you need to stay the ♥♥♥♥ away and more people need to know that and spread that knowledge"

if you want a game that has good story lots of grinding and isnt pay to play with a developer who cares about its user base and is free to play, go play warframe. they also nail the space aspect pretty well but instead of space magic youre a space ninja. also their community doesnt doxx their CMs and threaten their families and pets.

conclusion: play at your own risk of time and money loss. warframe is a similar experience but better in most capacities. bungie only outshines with unfettered API access
