The Evil Within 2 is a wonderfully done Survival Horror game that is, in most parts, better then the original and innovates it's gameplay to completely new level that I wasn't sure it could do successfully without straying to far from the original, but not only does it surpass it, it excels at it.

The game's gameplay is more open then original, opting for a semi-open world, a few large areas that you can go in between and explore, while running into creepy and disturbing enemies and find hidden supplies and even a few optional terrors made just to stress you out more, but in a good way.

The audio is on point, between it's monsters, between it's weapons, and between the voice acting. The music, although I don't think is a step down, is different then the original, but still enjoyable. The voice acting is superb, and not knock on their original choices that went with much higher paid, more known actors, this cast does a outstanding job voicing the characters. I think they do a better job, and although I did love Jennifer Carpenter's voice as Kidman in the first one, the new voice outshines her here.

If there was any major gripe in this game, it's story is definitely weaker in the second one then the first one. Although it's not horrible and is still enjoyable, Mobius comes off at times almost cartoonishly villianly, and although the last acts between Sebastian and the final boss seems to save the story as more things come to light, I find that I enjoyed Ruvik and his story a bit better overall. Here is hoping for an Evil Within 3 where Ruvik makes a return in some capacity as hinted by the first games ending.

Overall, an amazing entry in the series, and an outstanding game overall. 9.5/10
