Fantastic expansion on the growing Exit 8 type games. Notable improvements include exploratory story, chilling atmosphere, and a fix for the 'but I want to see everything' mentality that normally required hoping for the RNG gods to favor you.

Don't watch videos, don't read reviews, just buy and play it spoiler free. Easily in my top five games of all time.

This game really can make you think. I don't mean in the tradition questions science fiction can raise such as 'What does it mean to be human?', 'Can AI have a soul?', or any of that 'Do robots dream of electric sheep?'

For me the questions came when trying to do "Portal Conservation Society" with a good friend. After making a jump near the end that for our solution involved smacking off a board. I portaled, smacked, and then rebounded into the goal as intended. Then I sat there, drinking a cup of coffee while I watched this individual try and fail, and fail, and fail. Smacking and just falling like a rock, as though a new 'gravity' feature had been modded into the session. I was at a loss as to what was going on. I know this person should be more than capable of falling correctly, yet the cup became empty as their attempts continued.

Soon after they asked what I did, what they were doing wrong, and I was at a complete loss as to why it wasn't working for them. It was only through doing it again myself and self examination that I realized I was hitting the jump key as I hit the wall, apparently a reflexive instinct that I wasn't aware I was doing. Something I did on my first attempt and something my friend never thought to try in over 30+ deaths as GLaDOS continued to mock us over the PA.

I haven't played Portal 2 since, I got my achievements and got out, but whenever I think of the game my mind now wanders to that moment. Wondering what makes people so different, how some problems may be harder for others even when given the same tools and opportunities, and what else do we do in our lives that we aren't even aware is helping us. 10/10, would contemplate life again.

The bots just stand in the floor traps and get murdered, are constantly being whittled down without using a med-pack, never put down turrets or open doors, and are constantly following me instead of taking a side of the crystal.

How they programmed the bots to function exactly like human teammates is uncanny. 10/10

The infinite horrors of space can't compete with the fear some of these PUGs put into me.

Early Access Review
If you have anything fewer than a team of four avoid this game. The AI is crippling to work with at the later stages. Although there is the feature to tell the AI what to focus on, they will random decide to start drinking heavily and do their own thing. Does this mean that they are truly the future of sailors on the high seas in space? Yes. Does this make the game enjoyable? No

2/13/2023 Edit

I concur with Avoid Spirit's comment, the Early Access Update 3 is more of what the AI needs but still impossible to play on any high difficulties without human players.

My question to the development team is this, why does the AI for the reload and repair bots work so much better than the crew? The little scooting robots are allowed to zip (run) around the ship, immediately go to their objective and complete it, and I have never once seriously complained about them.

Went back again to see if the AI had improved, or learned how to at jog when their lives were on the line. Instead the bots have apparently been reading my reviews, and the first chance they got to use the new teleport feature, they transferred over the the enemy ship and helped them reload. I will change my review to positive once they rejoin my team, until then this means war(p).

"I see a sign saying push the green button"

"Okay I will push the green button" *Wins*

The game's puzzles only become interesting in the last section before the game abruptly ends. Not needing an internet connection to play with your friend is ultimately the most creative aspect this game brings to the table.

Very easy to pick up and play, with one of the most relaxing co-op experiences in a while.
