It genuinely feels like a dozen different people designed the change logs for this xpac, who never stopped to talk to each other.

Everything you're used to, down to core gameplay mechanics that were virtually set in stone since Rebirth originally came out, has been nerfed into the ground. No effort has been made to revert the item pool bloating from Afterbirth+ either, further compounding already existing problems.

While each individual nerf makes sense when you look at it from the perspective of Afterbirth+, when brought together, it's way, way too much, even without taking Antibirth content into consideration.

Avoid it. Just go back to regular Rebirth w/ Antibirth.

I asked for a refund.

You can pick up your house (in two parts), and sell your house inside your house, by putting it on a table, in order to make enough money to sell everyone's houses faster.

You can go through the roguelike dungeon to find a giant, indestructible c@ck as a weapon, and cheese the entire rest of the game with it.

Highly recommended.

No rebindable controls for keyboard.

Hilariously, there ARE controller rebinds for a controller. They just *forgot* or didn't care to include keyboard rebinds.

My favorite game of Q1 and Q2 of 2019.

It's one of those games that does just ONE thing, but refines that essence down to absolute perfection. I cannot recommend it enough.

One of the most mechanically unique roguelikes I have ever played, and even if you don't like the game overall too much, the possession/skill learning mechanic alone is worth having a look at.

Frankly, it inspired me to make something of my own with a similar mechanic, and I cannot wait to be skilled enough in coding to make it happen.

Caves of Qud is one of the most thematically unique roguelikes I have ever played, and frankly, it's a must own in any roguelike fan's library, even in early access.

They also have an excellent, LGBTQIA+ friendly community on Discord.

So...

I bought this game in early access, and I was a huge supporter of it. I shoved it in everyone's face I knew. I loved this game.

Note the past tense.

Unfortunately, every single update ever since release - including the release version - pushed me further, and further away from this game. The devs keep releasing massive, sweeping updates that completely shake up the difficulty curve of the game. Sadly, the latest one has gone a bit too far in doing so, and I just genuinely can't stand the game anymore.

This would not be an issue, if the devs would add the ability to go back to earlier versions of the game via Steam settings.

I seem to be in the minority on this, looking at the glowing praise everyone else is heaping on the latest updates, so take this all with a grain of salt; but the game I loved is gone, and I can never play it anymore.

It was fun while it lasted, I guess.

Disclaimer. If the game works for you just fine right out of the game? Great. Good for you. Not for me.

I spent over an hour finding fixes on how to even launch the game, as right out of the gate, it wouldn't launch. Borderless Windowed doesn't work -- not unless you start the game with everything minimized. I have to delete the shader cache and rebuild it every time I launch the game, otherwise, it either crashes, or hangs up and I get the endless "Loading shaders" bug. Before every launch I need to make sure the game runs as Admin, otherwise it crashes on launch.

And then the game randomly just deletes it's own data. Happened twice within 1.4 hours.

Playing No Man's Sky for me feels like having to go through a pre-flight checklist every time I even launch the game. And this is something I'm okay with, if the game is at least fun or interesting.

... It isn't.

The game for me is laden with terrible performance issues, with frame rates dipping from a solid 60 to 15-17 for seemingly no reason, independent of how many things are shown on screen. This is, without hyperbole, the worst game performance I have seen in my entire Steam Library.

I'd love to experience all the new changes everyone's talking about, but it seems none of them happen within the 2 hour refund period. Or at least not in a matter that is appreciable, because 2 hours in, this is a bog-standard survival game, with terrible controls, terrible spaceship controls, awful performance problems, an absolutely awful user interface, and inconsistent design decisions.

I have no doubt it gets better later on. But I don't have neither the patience, nor the good will to suffer through it.
