do you want to play a wizard game where magic can do literally anything if you understand it well enough?

noita is unfair. it hates you. it is the illusion of order constructed brick by brick from chaos, and it will randomly just start playing jenga instead.

it also lets you play jenga with the bricks of reality, because why the f--k not.

create glue with a spell. consume the glue. rewrite the rules of reality, on a lark. live in the doomed world you created.

the game hates you, and delights in watching you get drunk off of your newfound power, only to slam you right back in the dirt through some convoluted rube goldberg shenanigans, then shows you exactly how many times you died, just to rub it in

it is also the single best wizard game i have ever played in my entire f-king life. the game doesn't even BEGIN to reveal itself until you start trying to break it's implied rules. heck the rules. f--k everything up. you're a godd-mn wizard. you can do what you want, and nothing can stop you except your own hubris, and like three pixels of pink juice. this is a game that EXPECTS you to f--k with it, and has just as many ways to f--k with you for trying to f--k with it.

it is peak wizard sh-t

if at any point you felt the complicated emotion of "i f--king hate this game. 10/10, it's perfect, i can't wait to let it ruin my life", play noita

in fact, just play noita in general

Don't bother if you don't own a HOTAS, or if you don't use a controller. KBM controls are stiff, delayed, unresponsive, and obtuse.

This might genuinely be the most obtuse and incomprehensible game I've played in my life, and I played EVE. Virtually all mechanics in this game are about as transparent as concrete.

I can see what the devs are going for, and I genuinely applaud them for the sheer scope of it all, but I found it easier to play bloody EVE Online than it was to penetrate this. After spending a day trying to figure out how to actually play this game, I still have no idea how... ANY combat mechanics work, other than shrug, click buttons, and hope for the best. It just seems completely random.

When entering ship battles, the game gives you an idea on whether a ship is within your means to beat but even then it's just a complete toss-up. Even with the most agile starting ship, and the largest Navigation and Piloting stat the game will allow you to have right out of the gate, actually advancing or retreating in battle just... Doesn't work? In the seven hours I played for, I have managed to advance a grand total of *twice*, and the game just does not provide any feedback on what you're doing wrong. I can't tell what rolls I failed, I can't tell what stats influence what rolls, the tooltips are useless, and even with having spent an hour just trying to absorb the information on the game's wiki, I still have no idea to what degree anything influences anything.

That's not even mentioning the absolute gargantuan mess that is crew management. Lists, upon lists, upon lists of perks, stats, none of which you have any clue on how important it is due to the aforementioned mess. There is an auto-level option but I still have no idea what criteria does it level things up on.

The game gives you more control than you could possibly want or comprehend, but it just feels like it's gaslighting you.

I feel bad slagging it off like this, because it's very clear that the devs making this game are extremely passionate. You don't pump out updates every week or two for such a long time, if you're not passionate about your project. There's a lot of lil' touches that just scream "YES, THIS IS THE GAME WE WANT TO MAKE". There's love and passion in this, so much of it!

But it's just... incomprehensible, and that makes me sad, I'm sorry.

It genuinely feels like a dozen different people designed the change logs for this xpac, who never stopped to talk to each other.

Everything you're used to, down to core gameplay mechanics that were virtually set in stone since Rebirth originally came out, has been nerfed into the ground. No effort has been made to revert the item pool bloating from Afterbirth+ either, further compounding already existing problems.

While each individual nerf makes sense when you look at it from the perspective of Afterbirth+, when brought together, it's way, way too much, even without taking Antibirth content into consideration.

Avoid it. Just go back to regular Rebirth w/ Antibirth.

I asked for a refund.
