Mortal Shell seems difficult at first until the player discovers how OP the 'Harden' ability is. It's basically a 100% damage protection and 0% stamina use shield that can be used once every few seconds. It breaks after the character gets physically hit, but it can be used at absolutely every moment - even mid-air and during an attack.

After realizing the above, the whole game can be cheesed to the point of not receiving any damage, and not even struggling to achieve that. The strategy is always the same - charge your heavy attack, use 'Harden' just before the attack is executed, and wait until an enemy mindlessly hits you. Repeat after the cooldown until the enemy is dead.

There are no classic shields, though the player can use the 'Parry' ability. It's another super overpowered, and also upgradable ability, yet its main con is that it doesn't work. The parry windows are inconsistent and seem impossible to learn. Maybe it's a skill issue but still, if I can just use 'Harden' without taking any risk, the choice is simple.

Another thing that makes me not recommend Mortal Shell is the weird choice of character customization - there is none. The player can just swap between 4 'shells' that come with different, buyable upgrades, and that's it. The same goes for weapon choice - there are only a few, and they come with only 4 or 5 (can't remember now) possible upgrades.

This means that the character 'builds' are predetermined and can be varied only by the weapon choice. Different weapons need different materials to upgrade anyway so there's no need to focus on maximizing a particular one. Also, the aforementioned 'Harden' combat strategy obviously works best with the most powerful single-attack weapon.

Finally, Mortal Shell is a very short and small game. There are only 4 main bosses and then thank you, your work is done. I understand it doesn't come with the standard Souls game price - which is pretty high - but come on. If I can't even collect any items (besides the usable ones), what's the point of going through NG+?

I was initially skeptical as Dark Souls III seemed too easy and linear compared to the first and the second part. Also, I was not too fond of the fact that there's now a lot more fast-paced action instead of slower, methodical, and more tactical combat. Fortunately, I quickly got humbled by my cocky attitude and I found the challenge I was looking for.

The game is slightly different from its previous parts, just like DS2 was different from DS1. It's indeed faster and more linear, maybe even more casual, but it doesn't affect the fun that DS3 generously provides. There are quite a few challenging and memorable bosses, the same goes for the areas you visit. I'm not the best at From Software's side quests and I think I haven't finished a single one in this part, but they're definitely there as well.

While this is probably my least favorite Souls title from the original trilogy, it's still one of the best games I have ever played.

Rocky Balboa once said: It’s not about how hard you hit - it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. I believe it precisely catches what Dark Souls is in its core.

This is a game about perseverance, determination, patience, and will. It’s also about being ready for any encounter, and any danger that may lurk in the shadows.

The real difficulty of Dark Souls lies in the demand of being persistent - you can only lose when you stop trying. However, if you keep on being watchful, methodical, and stubborn, and then if you accept the fact that you may fail at some point, that you may need to start your hard work again from scratch - you will actually win, eventually.

Doesn’t it sound like real life?

I have never cursed so much on any game like on Elden Ring, and I’ve also never adored any title so deeply. The amount of sweet content it has would easily suffice for multiple Souls titles, and yet we were given this in one, beautiful, open-world game.

Elden Ring can be both easy and hard - nothing stops the player from finishing the game on Rune Level 1. At the same time, it’s entirely possible to maximize character stats before even defeating the first boss (although it would take eons).

I believe that From Software attempted to invite new players to try the Souls formula but also wanted all their old-school fans satisfied. In my opinion, they did remarkable work, and I truly think that Elden Ring will achieve a "classic" status after enough time passes.

For me it’s an easy 10/10, and probably the very best video game I have ever played.

Dollar is your 'game' if you enjoy hoarding free trash items like me. You get a drop every 30 minutes of idling, which most often results in a 0,03$ "Dollar". Sometimes, you may get lucky and receive a little more valuable items but don’t expect to become a Steam millionaire.

Also, don’t get fooled by the clicking 'feature' - it does absolutely nothing and won’t help you get better loot.

All in all, if you keep your PC/laptop launched all day every day, you may as well start grinding these sweet, sweet worthless Dollars like we do.

Oh, and don’t waste your dollar for Dollar - get it for free on the dev’s Discord.

Holy hell, this is undoubtedly one of the best tycoons in gaming history. I thought I had already reviewed this slice of heaven, but it seems I was too engrossed in the game itself to remember.

I imagine you already know why so many players love Game Dev Tycoon so I won't bore you with another review. Just let me remind you that you can always refund a game played for less than 2 hours and purchased within the last 2 weeks.

If you don't get hooked within those first 2 hours, there's a good chance that Game Dev Tycoon is not for you. Why not give it a shot for free?

Yet again the simplest concept proves to be the most entertaining. I came back to L4D after many years and I have a total blast, incomparable with any other modern title.

Two sets of guns, two kinds of throwables, one melee attack, a medkit, painkillers, and that’s it. It appears you don’t have to change or add to an already perfect design.

The other things that let L4D become a legendary title are REALLY memorable maps, along with the 4 main characters that could be easily starred in an A-class zombie movie. Also, the devs managed to create a great horror atmosphere that is no longer so characteristic in L4D2.

Overall, I think the first part remains unbeaten, whether compared to its sequel, or especially when it comes to Back 4 Blood - which I also enjoy in contrast to a lot of players but the simplicity of L4D wins it for me. It triggers this pure primal joy of brainless zombie killing in the very best way (pun intended).

This may be shocking to many but if you want to play L4D2, you can just… you know… play L4D2.

Obviously, it’s hard not to compare Back 4 Blood to Left 4 Dead as even the title and the game cover are meant to inform everyone that we’re dealing with a spiritual successor of the legendary coop zombie shooter.

In my opinion, B4B devs indeed haven’t managed to create as memorable characters, maps, and atmosphere as in L4D/L4D2. However, they have succeeded in many other fields.

B4B happens to be a lot deeper when it comes to the gameplay loop. There are a lot more weapons, throwables, and other special items. Almost all the weapons can be upgraded - even the melee ones - and the players can finally choose from a variety of scopes.

The infamous card system actually uncovers even more gameplay depth by enabling the players to experiment with a lot of different builds. Fortunately, hardcore min/maxing is not required to beat all the chapters, at least on the first two difficulty levels.

There is more to B2B, like the skull totem system or different character traits, but it won’t sound even half as good on paper as it is in the reality - or - in the actual gameplay, especially if you’re into coop games.

For around 5$ on sale, it’s hard not to recommend this title.

This game reminded me why I used to love single player titles so much.

It’s just pure fun and joy, everything is dosed in perfect proportions, and every element of the game actually makes sense. Even the collectibles - which I rather dislike as general - felt like a nice and compelling addition to the main gameplay loop.

Arkham Asylum may not be my favorite single player title ever, but is definitely super high in my private ranking. I also finished it in only two days which is probably my personal best.

It’s also worth noting that the whole trilogy comes super cheap when on a Steam sale, making it a nice deal even for the game collectors.
