I've been playing Runescape since about 07. A lot of people don't like the changes and updates, because their nostalgia dictates the game shouldn't change. However, tons of people who have been playing for years DO enjoy those changes, and for people who are new to the game, there's really no downside to them.

If you're considering playing Runescape after many years of break, I think it's important to keep in mind that it's a whole different beast. If you want the nostalgia of 07 RS, you might have better luck with Oldschool. But, if you're open to QOL updates, visual improvements, additional skills, and countless hours of gameplay, RS3 is a great choice.

If you're new to RS completely, know that this game is really what you make it. If you want to focus on socializing, there are clans, group chats, minigames, and so on. If you like the grind, aim to max out all of your skills. If you're more into storylines, go questing. There's something here for everyone. If it's all your jam, be a completionist. There's a cape for that!

I'm so excited to see Runescape join Steam - two of my favorite things coming together. I hope joining the platform will bring more new players to this classic!

More Things of Note for New Players:
The devs are very active on this game. They interact with players regularly on Reddit and Twitter and use player votes to decide what to work on next. For all the flack they get, they do better than most mmorpg devs. I find that the criticism is often a case of people not knowing what they have until it's gone.

While many elements of the game are locked behind membership, there is a significant portion that you can experience before deciding if that's right for you. They also have started allowing f2p players to get to level 5 in all members skills to kind of test the waters.

There are holiday events each year that allow players to get prestige items and earn XP at higher rates and unlock unique music tracks.

There is little consequence to just signing out and ignoring the game for a week, a month, or a year. So, if you like to binge games or are busy frequently, you don't have to worry about logging in every day.

The wiki is EXTENSIVE and there are countless guides for quests and skill training online due to how old the game is. So, if you're new and get stuck or don't feel like figuring out something you have to do but don't really enjoy, there's always an out. If you end up at a single part of the game where you're getting irritated by having to put in effort, there it probably a solution online.

This game was phenomenal!

I was drawn into this game by the clearly beautiful art style. I am a huge fan of colors contrasting with black and the visuals in this game largely appealed to my artistic side. I was really excited to find that the gameplay was just as good as the design. Throughout the game, the quality of the design and the quality of the levels never dropped.

The second thing I loved about this game is its story. You are playing the son of the narrator - a woman scientist writing letters to you from another dimension. As you play through, you get to hear the story of how she discovered color in a world of black and white, collecting colors for yourself as you go along. The story narration was well done, clear, and very enjoyable.

The third thing I enjoyed, which was far from the least important part, was the game mechanics. I, personally, used a controller to play. I prefer using a controller for most games and I, like the game itself, recommend one for this. The mechanics for this game are incredibly smooth, simple, and easy to grasp. If you have pattern memory, it will come in handy very quickly. You use the right stick on the controller to choose what color you want. You will quickly begin to memorize each color's location on the color wheel, gaining speed and skill as you go along.

The gameplay is driven by puzzle-filled levels that have a very comfortable learning curve to them. I felt just the right amount of challenge with each new level, some things getting easier, some things getting harder. If you like balanced games, this one is a real treat.

I highly recommend this if you love story-driven games, logic puzzles, beautiful design, and simple controls.

So, this is a classic arcade-style game. If you ever went to the arcade in Club Penguin, you'll be familiar with this game, as it's the same concept as one of the games there. You can only land on each spot once (or as many times as the number on the tile dictates).

This is a game type that can be done many times in different ways and still remain fun, just because there are so many ways to do it. However, I felt like this rendition, specifically, was lacking. The music was monotonous and i ended up muting it fairly quickly. The design style was simplistic. While I do tend to enjoy simplistic game design, this felt simplistic in a more inexperienced way than in an intentional way.

What really made me less than impressed with the game was the logistical design.

For one thing, there were only 50 levels, which I finished in about an hour and ten minutes. For 2 bucks, I would expect at least a few hours of gameplay. I feel like the amount of content this game offered was worth 50 cents to a dollar at most.

The other part of the logistics complaint is that the game creator, while making this, didn't seem to know how to make difficult, logic puzzles. While I would expect the beginning of any game to be easy, the difficulty didn't really go up, despite more mechanics being added. It seemed to me that the creator ended up hitting a wall in their own ability to implement logic into their game and began adding to the quantity of tiles rather than the quality of puzzle. Some levels appeared to have a route you were "supposed" to take, but could be easily brute forced by going whichever way you wanted, so long as you knew what you were doing.

All in all, I wish this game had had more content and that the endgame content had been more compact and tricky rather than just large and easy.

When I started playing Slay the Spire, I wasn't expecting much. The unconventional animation style and it being a genre I haven't explored before had me skeptical I would like it. However, after only a few minutes of playing, I knew I would be hooked. I've played a handful of times and my most recent play session has been over 20 hours long while I stay up all night doing laundry. This game really doesn't get old.

The graphics for this game are some of the most unique and easy-to-fall-in-love-with designs I've ever come across. I've never changed my mind so fast from "wtf is this?" to "I can't believe how cool this is" with any other game. The creatures you encounter during your trek through each tower are beautifully designed, unique, and genuinely quirky.

When it comes to these creatures, I love that you can really learn them. One of my favorite traits in a game is that it's easy to pick up on and takes time to master. This game is a fantastic example of this principle. The UI is very straightforward and easy to navigate with both mouse and controller. This makes it a very easy game to learn. However, in order to truly master it, you have to play over and over again, learning the moves and weaknesses of each creature, unlocking and learning new cards, and uncovering relics that give you special abilities throughout each play-through. Not to mention, each of the 4 characters you can play as have different primary play-styles and involve different strategies. Once you master one, you can move on to the next.

This game is just difficult enough to pose a genuine challenge without leaving you stuck at the same spot long enough to drive you crazy. By trying again and again, you really do see yourself improving quite quickly. If you enjoy games that make you work for your success, and will actually give it to you if you earn it, this is a great choice for you!

I highly recommend this game to anyone who loves strategy and deck-building. While you lose your deck if you die, you get to build it again and again with varying degrees of power behind every combination. The only thing I can even remotely complain about with this is that sometimes there will be a letter or number somewhere that isn't displaying and it can make it tricky to play cards or weigh choices where you lose health or pay money. This isn't frequent enough or extreme enough to be game-breaking, however, and it's possible this is cause by my monitor being more square than the standard. All the same, it doesn't detract from the value of the game and, honestly, just adds a bit of risk and challenge to it!

I haven't finished the game, but seeing the other negative reviews, I'm certain my opinion won't change as I continue playing.

This game is incredibly cute and drew me in because I thought it would be a cute, more paranormal version of what Party Hard is. Unfortunately, it's not. It's overly simplistic, repetitive, and Boring. The animations and music are cute at first, but the novelty wears off really fast, leaving you with the chore of possessing, unpossessing, possessing, unpossessing, over and over again. After the first handful of times using a spook (the effect you can do while possessing something) they just become annoying.

I started on the carnival train level. It took me 40 minutes to get through the level because people just wouldn't leave. The 3rd from last person on the train took fifteen straight minutes of haunting to finally leave. She was running around screaming, clearly ready to get the hell out of there, but I couldn't manage to herd her in the right direction no matter how I tried. Even if there was something haunting right behind her, she would turn back around and run the other way, frequently going back and forth on stairs and ladders ad nauseam.

I was using a game controller for gameplay so I can't comment on keyboard bindings. However, with the controller, I found that often, when I would press the button to possess something, The ghost would possess and then immediately unpossess it even when I only pressed the button once. There's nothing wrong with the controller button. I use it on all controller-accessible games. The other issue is that the B button functions as both the spook and the menu button. Why they didn't bind the Start button for the menu is beyond me. If I accidentally hit B when not possessing something, it would open the menu. Because you have to do such a high number of possession/unpossession combos to move around the train/house, this happens frequently if using a controller.

All in all, I was very disappointed with this. There was simply no actual challenge. The entire game was repetition and chance with no actual substance, which is really a shame because it's gorgeous and had a ton of potential.

Mini Metro is the perfect game for those of us who like minimalist puzzle/strategy games. The interface is smooth and beautiful and the controls are intuitive and simple. This game is still being updated with new maps and corresponding achievements. I highly recommend it if you enjoy games with no particular end goal. It makes for a great game to relax with but can also be an insane challenge if you're an achievement hunter. It's really what you make of it!

This is such a good game for when you're feeling down, depressed, anxious, or anything else really. The entire game is focused around writing kind notes to people. If you have something you're stressed about, you can write a note saying what's wrong and other people can respond with encouragement and understanding.

You can't direct message or anything like that. You can say thank you by sharing stickers with each other, of which there are about ten. With each sticker you get, you unlock a new decoration for your little virtual room. As of right now, they go into predetermined places. I think some small expansions later to allow you to customize your room would be really cool, but even as it is, the game is really nice. It's calming to sit down to for a half hour or so and just get some needed encouragement. Even if you don't feel like sharing your woes, writing messages in response to others is also a great way to feel a little better.

This is a pretty alright clicker game. It's not got a particularly pleasing art style imo and the entire thing feels fairly... underwhelming, but the mechanics are decent and it gives me something to do when I don't' want to think. I would recommend other clickers over this one, but I recommend it all the same. If you look at it and think you'll like it, you probably will.

Rimworld is a fantastic game if you love micromanaging people - which I do! I've never found a game before this that quite gave me the control and results I wanted.

When I play Sims, I give them no free will and force them to be productive unless they're eating or sleeping. But, when you get to the point where they've mastered all the skills, they aren't really that useful anymore and you have to move on to their kids. You get to a point where you're just searching for more ways to spend the hoarde of money you've got.

Rimworld filled the hole in my heart that I couldn't fill with Sims. With Rimworld, I can start out with one suffering person and build a whole compound of people, building them a hoarde of money that won't become useless once I've acquired everything in a shop.

You can trade with nearby tribes/groups to get more resources and use the precious metal currency you earn to build with. This excellent currency sink keeps things from getting boring. The most amazing thing is that, with my village of some 12 people and a safe, functioning base that can get me through the summer and winter in one piece, I've only barely scratched the surface of this game. That's why I've waited until racking up 63 hours to even write my review.

I've yet to do any missions outside of my territory. I'm still playing in a way that I will reload if something terrible happens. I haven't even gotten started on building weapons and machinery. There are so many ways you can play this game that its play value is barely chipped away at, even after over 60 hours of playtime.

I still look forward to playing with no reloads, playing a session where I treat my villagers terribly and watch the chaos ensue, playing with higher difficulty, with randy random or cassandra classic mode, trying out starting in different terrain. There's so much to be done that I doubt even a thousand hours of this game will leave me tired of it.

If you like experimenting with different scenarios, growing to love bizarrely specific characters with unique traits and backstories, making villagers suffer, challenging yourself, gathering resources, micromanaging, growing a village, and fighting off raids and wild animals, you absolutely must buy this game.

While I'll probably come back and finish this later just for completion's sake, I am closing this game in frustration right now. I'm not a fan of games where you die over and over and over again. I tend to like simpler games with easy gameplay focused more on the storyline or puzzles. I was relatively hopeful when I first started playing. The design was beautiful and I was excited to get started.

The first thing I noticed was that the mechanics were a bit slow. The movement of your characters, the jumping, and the move to finish climbing unto a platform you've only managed to grab the side of, are all very slow in a way that feels almost laggy. I was optimistic, thinking this might be something I'd get used to during gameplay.

The next thing I noticed was a very prominent bug that happened multiple times. When I saw there was an achievement to play through without dying, I decided upon my first death, very early in, that I'd best start over now. I figured, with the way the game is paced in the beginning, that it would be easy to get through without dying as long as I paid better attention. When I went to the main menu and hit new game, the intro started up but instead of stopping on the house, the view continued to move to the right. The beginning dialogue popped up and prompted me to do the beginning of the game regardless of the view being in the wrong place on the level. I tried to navigate the bedroom you start in without being able to see, going by the sound of my footsteps, but I couldn't. Restarting again led to the same thing. I had to close and reopen the game entirely to get it to work again. The next time I died and tried to restart, the same thing happened.

I moved on from that, still thinking it would end up being a fun play. I could adjust for the things that I'd experienced so far. However, at the end of the first level, you're taken to another area with EXACTLY the kind of platformer experience that I HATE. You're forced to go through a sidescrolling course with moving platforms and a big boss right behind you with little more than a single second of room for error. This, combined with the slow movement and inability to pull yourself up from the edge of platforms very well, was a nightmare. I tried as best I could, wondering if I could get the hang of it, but after some ~20-30 deaths, I rage quit. It's arguably harder to get through than rage games known for their difficulty, like The Impossible Game.

I wouldn't recommend this game. I'm very sorry to say that, as the graphics are very nice and had me hopeful, but the game itself isn't fun and that breaks the whole deal for me. I wondered if it was just me, but looking at the other negative reviews, I'm not hopeful that I'd enjoy this much if I pushed myself to keep playing right now. Maybe I'll revisit it when I'm more patient and can handle dying over and over and over again.
