I'm not entirely sure what to say about this game, because calling it a work of art would be an insult. I played the crap out of the first game and it was easily my favorite indie game of all time. When I first heard that the second game was going to be 3D I was skeptical at first, but as Hopoo released more and more GIF snapshots my hype built. The game dropped 3 days ago out of nowhere and I instantly picked it up. No regrets.

As soon as I got to the main menu and I heard the first 3 notes of the soundtrack I got chills. Chris Christodoulou absolutely nailed the music in the first game and I listened to it while driving almost consistently when it first came out. And now he's done it again. I'm listening to it as I write this review and oh my word. It's just the right amount of new stuff to keep you listening but also he kept some of the same riffs from the first game. Chris, I know you won't see this, but thank you. You were one of the few that inspired me to get into music. Never lose the abnormally high pitched guitar.

And then I launched my first run. Took me about 10 seconds to realize I have to actually exit the escape mod manually. Once I got out I immediately noticed how smooth the movement is (YOU CAN SPRINT HHNNNNGH). The first enemy popped up and I took my first shot. At that moment I knew how amazing this game is going to be. The gunplay and combat is more fluid than most AAA games nowadays. It progresses from taking a few potshots at some Lemurians to an absolute fluster cuck. Definitely need a seizure warning in this game.

I think my favorite thing about this game (other than the music) is the way it makes you feel like an absolute god that's literally unkillable and then suddenly getting an elite boss thrown at you that takes you 10 minutes to kill (Providing you don't get one shot). It's easy enough for new players to pick up without too much trouble, but also hard enough to keep it interesting and making you come back for more.

And this game is only early access. Imagine what it will be like in a year.

Oh Lunar coins a new type of permanent currency (inb4 microtransactions and cosmetics). Honestly I wouldn't be upset if they did add those because these masterminds deserve more money.

Hats off to you Hopoo.
