A really creepy game that does a lot with the intention PS1-era graphic limitations. The sound design especially stands out! It'll take several playthroughs to unlock everything, but I'd recommend the first run blind. Especially worth it on sale, I'd think, a great game you can play around Halloween in an evening or two.

My only major gripe is that some of the achievements are quite cryptic, and it'd be hard to get them all blind.

Bad North is a fun strategy roguelite that is inspired by the likes of Total War and Fire Emblem. It does manage to maintain a decent amount of strategy with relatively simple gameplay, even if its a little overreliant on certain tactics when the difficulty increases. The environments and art style are where the game steals the show, with artsy, randomly generated islands with different cliff faces and decoration enforcing different strategy, and blobby characters that show a lot of character through their movements alone.

I've gotten a lot of play out of it, so if you are a fan of strategy or roguelikes it's definitely worth picking up now.

All the fun of starving to death on the frontier and being driven to consider murder and cannibalism without any of the jailtime.

With the new DLC and very active modding scene, this game is in it for the long haul

Not going to lie, I had more fun with this game than I thought I would. With such a short playtime one might think its not worth it, but in an astounding case of realism I did it anyway even if it was embarrasing and only a minute long.

Besides, its free and small, might as well give it a go!

Beat Hazard is like a rave inside your computer. Upload any song (although some genres are better suited to it than others, quiet music doesn't fit in my opinion, and playing dubstep is crazy), and the game makes a SHMUP stage for the song. For maximum fun points, turn visual effects up to 200%, turn off the lights at night, and max out the volume. Co-op is included, too. I'd also recommend the Ultra addon, which adds new perks and bosses and regular enemies and expands gameplay, keeping it interesting for longer. You get much more from that DLC than what most game's DLCs give you for that price.

A pretty epic RTS. Game-play is balanced (for the most part), introduction of squads and squad upgrades remove a lot of the micromanagement funk while still keeping tactical game-play intact. All of the races are varied and have different play styles, and not one faction is similar to any other faction. Campaign is decent, but a bit repetitive at times, but still has some pretty memorable moments. Even though it's old, its still visually impressive, and battles are always very entertaining to watch. Great sound design and voice acting too. Like many other Warhammer 40k games, you don't need too much experience with the background in order to enjoy yourself. so if you like RTS games, there is no reason to not pick it up.

This game is great. Great gameplay, great art design, great humor, great backstory for those willing to hunt it down, and (semi) great balance. Hats and weapons galore for customization freaks too. Now that it's free, there is no real reason to not give it a try.
