Weird name aside, this game is actually not a typical run-of-the-mill free crapware one can find in mobile or Steam. There are:
- Tons of progression/upgrades available to each car; upgrade parts, forced induction, blueprints to upgrade said parts and swapping different car parts as long still in the same class (yes you can cram 2JZ-GTE to RX-7, etc.)
- Bedazzling wealth of tuning options: gearing, tire size, tire pressure, launch RPM, shift points, suspension, etc.
- Barebones clan system which gives unique currency that can be used to buy premium parts and swapping car parts.
- Leaderboard of fastest cars in certain restrictions which gives decent reward if placed high enough.
- Championship a.k.a. ranked free-for-all, simple enough.
- Tournament, time limited ranked with car restriction (class or hp/ton) which drops currency to upgrade additional parts and buy premium-not-in-dealership kind of cars.

In typical F2P fashion, the progression are locked behind serious grind (I don't mind to much), but the proverbial final nail in the coffin is when Devs decided to overhaul Tournament system. The old system used energy/fuel (yes those kind like in CSR) to race and selection of opponents will be limited to those who has the same amount of wins and higher so it is quite fair.
The new system pretty much gave middle finger to everyone but the whales by unlocking the car restriction, scrapping the opponent cap (yes you can race with the same opponent over and over), and using another currency (gasp!) to race so even a car with middling build can go to the top with the power of $$$.
Yes, the potential earnings from new tournament system much more rewarding than old system but you need to race for a whole week to keep your position in the leaderboard.
No, in order to build your car you cannot skip tournament.

Edit: Add tuning options.

TL;DR take your time (and money) to spend elsewhere.
